Very friendly miner birds, chomping on my toast
It was a relaxed day today. We had a freeby day (3 for 2 nights) so stopped over another day. Its nice to just take it easy some days. Had breaky sitting in the sun and I was surrounded by Australian miner birds. They are very cute and not the least bit shy! One stood on my kindle and waited for some toast and another jumped onto my plate and pinched some!

Yalara is a very well designed resort with 3 different hotels, a campground and a town square. It employs 1000 people.A resort bus just tootles around all day picking people up, dropping them off at all the various stops, for nothing. runs through every 15 mins so very handy. We went through to the town, passed the camel farm (didn't know that was here!). There were aboriginal art markets, didgeredoo lessons, campfire stories (by aboriginal elders). Cafe's art galleries, souvenir stores, an IGA. Its quite a massive little town. And very professionally run.

We went through to the Desert Springs hotel and had 2 very expensive beers and watched the footy for a while. Food is generally a pretty good price here considering you're in the middle

Lovely pool when its 30 degrees!
of this huge continent. But I guess beer is a bit of a luxury!

We did a pretty good general shop at IGA to restock the fridge etc. Caught the resort bus back, too easy.

Its pretty hot today! I went for a swim in the resort pool. The water was VERY cold but I eventually managed to get right in and swim. Worth it!

Just behind the Bago is a lookout that everyone heads to at night to see the sun set and the colours of Uluru change. We took a few photos. The moon is one day from full so I tried to capture that too. Not so easy. The sky is magnificent, with the contrasts of the indigo blue and the deep deep red of the desert sand. Its a beautiful sight!

Well off to Kings Canyon in the morning. Hope we get to walk it. Not sure if there will be mobile access so may not get to post for a couple of days, we will see. So back soon!
