Daly waters and beyond

Completed minor repairs whilst in Mt Isa,hadn't realized it was a lunar eclipse over the w/e so missed it, no mention at the camp site or the local shops, so that's why the camp sites were so busy. We had been to Mt Isa before so didn't feel the need to do any sight seeing, so we just stocked up and chilled out.

Left on Sunday morning heading for Daly Waters and the famous pub, needing us to travel some distance and stay at 2 roadhouses fairly unattractive places but they serve a purpose.The journey was uneventful and monotonous at times, but we did see lots of birds of prey mainly feasting on road kill but many flying high and riding the thermals,also seen were a variety of other birds,kangaroos and emu's.

Arrived Daly Waters pub Tues midday, made our way to the pub to check in to the camp ground, were we were escorted to our site by a guy on a bike, the place starts to fill up from midday,powered site but no mains water, but fill up your tanks ok. Settled in a did a tour of Daly Waters, a town of some historic importance. Not much remains of the old town but the story lives on.

Today there is a museum, souvenir shop, art gallery with resident artist very impressive a small servo and the PUB.The pub is all it's made out to be,decked with all sorts of memorabilia, from women s bra's to hats all hanging on string or poles around the pub together with artifacts from the past towns history a very chilled out place staff very welcoming .

The pub also serve a famous meal, steak and barra with a salad, fantastic feed.Live music every night and tonight we were privileged with a new act called Chilli, we saw this guy at El Questro 3 yrs ago great act great music. This iconic pub is a must see.

Left Daly waters and headed for Mataranka only 160ks away hopefully the long drives are over for the time being.
