digging for whitchity grubs So this morning we were up around 6am to go hiking at Kings Canyon. I wasn't that happy to be up because I'd been kept awake by mice all night. There were loads in the kitchen when we were cooking and eating dinner, and I'd chosen a tent right next to the kitchen. When I went to bed I noticed a mouse had chewed through the wrapper of a museli bar I'd left on the bed. As I got into bed I wondered if I should get rid of the other museli bars in my bag but I couldn't be bothered. I did move the bag they were in closer to me so I could protect it in the night. So all night long I was woken by the scratch of the teeth of the mice on the zipper of my bag as they tried to get into the museli bars. They even ran over me a few times - was totally freaking me out. I was scared one would get inside my sleeping bag while I was asleep, or that they'd damage my brand new bag by chewing a hole in it. The most I saw was 4 at one

digging for whitchity grubs time (when I switched the torch on them) all having a go at the bag. So anyway, not a lot of sleep for me.
Kings Canyon is where parts of Priscilla - Queen of the Dessert was filmed and is really beautiful. Most of us found this much more interesting than Uluru - which is really just a rock in the middle of nowhere. We hiked for around 3 hours, and went through the Amphitheatre, the Lost City, and the Garden of Eden. The start of the hike is pretty intense with hundreds of rock steps heading straight up, but it gets easier from then on.
On the way back to camp Travers started digging to try and find us some witchity grubs to eat, but he came up empty on this occasion. Probably quite lucky because I think he'd decided I had to eat it if he found one. After lunch we packed up and got back on the bus to head back to Alice Springs.
Tonight this tour is officially over, but most of us meet up for dinner and a few drinks. It turns out that Max, Jannick and Heather are all doing the

They build it up so water doesn't run in when it rains. 3 day Alice to Darwin tour I'm booked on tomorrow, so it'll be great to know some people on it already.
