We went to a National park called The Litchfield National Park, It is a easy 70 Kilometres from Darwin if you head south, The park do not allow animals so little Jackson was put away for a few days. Look the whole thing revolves around a fantastic series of Waterfalls and Waterholes that are linked by a comprehensive walking track circut. Hey we loved the swimming and a word of caution the Buley Waterhole has a few fish that are quite impartial to a scab on the knee if you will, gross but true, I am so glad that Jo keeps telling the story to all and sundry that will listen of how a fish ate the scab of my knee........yeeha Our personal favouite is the Wangi Falls it has a one and a half hour ... read more

We are so happy to have a blog entry that is close to our past suburban lives, The Monaro, Australias original Holden Muscle car. Its a bit worrying the association to anatomy, but Australia loves its cars. We sold our Monaro Coupe to fund the purchase of WhyWait, not a bad swap in a sense as they both have their merits. I shant outline the pros and cons now for fear of nostalgia. I dont miss it really, I tell myself. Ha Well we have never been to a Motorshow since travelling, (14 months now give or take a week) and we cannot put into words the admiring looks we got from the petrol set as we rumbled up in our 4 cylinder diesel motorhome, What the.......... Anyway we know the truth, we did own one ... read more

We have been unabashed fans of the crocodile hunter ( STEVE IRWIN ) for ages, He passed away on Monday the 4th of Sept 2006, We are still in shock that this great man has gone and so many assholes are left to walk the earth. We had the sad displeasure of meeting a backpacker who was fed a load of tripe from the CROCODYLIS park regarding Steve and his outlook on the Crocodile and its conservation. Now from the outset we did inform this individual on the true nature of Steves standpoint, Which is leave these creatures in the wild to be as they always were. The Park is a breeding ground for handbags and shoes and it parades the crocodiles for an extra dollar prior to the 303 bullet gunshot to the head. Steve ... read more

When you come to Darwin ,the museum is a must.It has so much to look at and best of all its free. There is alot of aboriginal art ,all sorts of animals ,mammals, insects, and snakes that are stuffed and look very real .Plus there is a short movie on cyclone tracey ,with loads of info,on how the cyclone destoyed Darwin, a dark room which has sound affects of the cyclone and how loud it was, that was pretty scary.. We spent a good hour at the air conditioned Museum and we had to go back a second time just so we could feel we had done the exhibits justice as they had obviously put in a lot of time on designing them. Another great free activity to do at Darwin, apart from watching the human circus that ... read more

Darwin June 10-16, 2006 Saturday, June 10 We arrived in Darwin at 4:30 in the morning. It was pitch black outside and we were practically out on our feet as we passed through a vigorous and detailed customs and immigration check. The passage through customs became more complicated when they found out we were carrying candy. Any food, and they mean chocolate or “lollies” as the lady put it, demands a more thorough search. Our cab driver into town was a chatty, amiable guy who had the whole world figured out. His years in food service and his nights as a cab driver were all the education he needed to diagnose the world and her people. A stunning mind wasted on two tired and easily irritated travelers. We arrived at the Value Inn in downtown Darwin ... read more

Travelling north from Katherine takes us past the Edith Falls a National Park that we decided we would save for the return trip. We have done this for a few things so as we could keep the adventure going. The trip up to Darwin is long and there is pretty much the one way in and out . We stayed at Adelaide River for three days and strongly recommend anyone else does too, The camp is green and friendly. The meals are fantastic as we said earlier and we will be heading back there soon and we will be calling in again. From there we went the full length into Darwin and caught the sunset over the Timor Sea that day, I tell you straight it is the best sunset ive seen in many a day, ... read more

We had arranged to drop the car off at the airport, which was very easy given the early hour of the morning. We had allowed way too much time and hence had to wait for ages in the flight. We had not filled the car with petrol and we felt there wasn’t enough time, which was clearly a mistake. Darwin had changed completely from when I was last there (see ). I initially didn’t recognise any of it. It was a sleepy little town last time (with no work going, which we a big issue for us) but now it was relatively busy and built up. The backpackers also seemed to have taken over, with lots of hostels, bars, tour offices and second-hand car yards as well. It reminded me of Cairns and would have been ... read more

Hello! We flew to Darwin from Sydney last night, after a tour through the Australian War Memorial Museum. I think many of us were not aware that Australia was involved in many wars, and the museum helped give us some history. Some students also were able to speak to some war veterans and watch a wreath laying ceramony at the end of our tour. We were happy to leave the cold weather and fly to Darwin. It was a late night for us as we didn't get in until midnight. This morning we headed out to the Northern Territory museum where we were able to see many of Australia's wildlife in taxidermy form (much preffered after looking at some of them) and then headed to Crocodylus Park where we were able to hold a baby crocodile ... read more

It was the year of our lord, four score and ten ... plus 19 at the front and add 7 at the end. It was 1997 is what Im saying and I was about to go into my final year of my astrophysics with Swahili course at the world renouned East Yorkshire Polytechnic. I was the youngest student in my class having shown at a tender age that I was, in short, a genius. Having proved Einstein was wrong when I was 11, I called into question Newtons ideas about gravity which, after a legal wrangle, is now being largely corroborated by the leading experts in the field. In addition to my course, I was also captain of the football team, cricket team, rugby team, headboy, prefect and allround general nice bloke. Everyone liked me and ... read more
