Hibiscus Bloom
One of the loveliest I have seen so far. Hi Everyone,
Well today we had a completely free day until 6pm when we went on our last family reunion event. Tell you more about it later!
This morning again started with a swim, very beautiful and I am going to miss that when I come home!
After returning MrC and I had breakfast, and as MrC was having trouble with his feet we went into town to visit the shoe shop, so now he sports a lovely set of new sandals, and I have some pink thongs from Diana Ferrari!
All settled with our feet, we then took off to revisit the things I wanted to re-photograph because of lack of time the first time on the tour, and MrC came along for the ride.
First on the list was the giant Moreton Bay fig trees, just have a look at those photographs and you will understand why we went back!
Then we went off along the coast to visit places like Ansley Bay, Puppy’s point (fish fry was held there), and several other places around the outside of the island coast line. Its so great around here…..no photo could ever turn out wrong!
Marcccey we got as close to Colleen MacCulloch as we could…her front gate, no-one is allowed to knock on her door because she writes her books all night and sleeps all day!
I have to go back via that road tomorrow as there is a sign down there I want to get a picture of it, and I forgot to look for it today…just wait and see…..
We then went to the top of Mt Pitt the highest point and took more photographs specially looking East to Ansley Bay as we didn’t do that before.
Then back in to town to have lunch, both MrC and I had a Irish potato, very nice too, and as MrC’s new sandals were bothering his feet, I bought bandaids.
Then a little shopping, was lovely just wandering around the shops, there is still a heap I haven’t been in.
DB I got my sarongs! The lady also demonstrated how to put them on....heehee...You are going to love them. I also bought myself a self indulgence present of a Thai silk short sleeve jacket.. Oh it feels lovely!
Then the best part happened…MrC decided that he would go
swimming with me its been hot as here…I went to the Drive and Dive shop here and they hire out snorkel sets, you guessed it, the fella in the shop talked MrC into doing it too.
So off we went, the guy told us the best place to snorkel, and we got ready and went….I have never seen MrC so chuffed as I did today with him swimming around in a snorkel having these fish follow him around. Green and yellow striped ones, purple and yellow ones, yellow and white ones; I have never seen anything like it!
I now understand why Joshua and Bekk learnt to deep sea dive. It’s a really magical world under those waves.
Clear water, coral growing all over the place and the fish swimming all around. I think MrC is going to see if he can purchase an under water instamatic camera tomorrow as he wants to 1. Join our early morning swim, and 2. also to go snorkelling again in the afternoon to see what he can see.
Now to this evenings event: we got to travel around and visit to different islanders homes while having a progressive supper,
Perfect one day...
Perfect the next... all courses were really great the two I could mention are the Quinans House, was fabulous, and the house of a retired Army man who has displays all over it. Including a table that is signed as a guest book with a lot of famous peoples names on it including Nancy Wake- the white mouse. I could not believe it but there is was in black ink and photographs and medals of hers on the wall.
After dessert in the only brick house on the island we came home to bed.
It was a great day, tomorrow is our last full day before returning home, so MrC wants to get some more shopping in and its his turn to decide where we go to visit.
I think its Kingston the convict village he wants to see.
