G'day everyone! It is great to read everyones comments. We would first of all like to congratulate Janet and Keith for winning the 3 months quiz and so we hope you will like the thai present for your thai conservatory.
Since writing last, we went to Khorat and we saw our oldest temple yet (10th centurary) and it was beautiful (see pictures). We spent the next 5 days before our flight to Australia in Bangkok. We did a bit of shopping at a mall Mum/Yvonne suggusted and we went down the river on the boat as Keith and Janet suggusted and both were very good. On our last day we said a last farewell to Tesco and to KFC whcih was sad.
We got to the airport alright on the next day and we had a good flight over to Singapore but the time went so quickly as we have become so use to 14 hour train/bus journeys so a 2 hour flight with TV was over before we knew it. We then caught our next flight an hour later to Sydney (7 hours) and again it felt really quick. We arrived at Sydney Airport and to our dismay my
beloved Bongo was taken away from me because they dont allow certain wood products into the country. Our first reaction in Sydney was that it was very cold, but the blue sky was fantastic. Everything also seems so clean and there is hardly any traffic whatsoever! It is very pedestrian friendly unlike Thailand. We got a ferry over to our accomodation and we went past the Opera House and the bridge which was amazing. After settling in, we walked across the bridge which is only a couple of minutes away and we had more great views of the Opera House (see pictures). We then went to the old harbour area with many old buildings and then we visited an art gallery and a history museum which were both excellent and free! We found our new Tescos which is Woolies supermarket which has everything under the sun and we have been to it every day since.
The next day we went to see the Town Hall and St Andrews Cathedral which both looked very impressive. Next to them was the Queen Victoria Building which was a beautiful Victorian shopping arcade. Bobby discovered this envelope they had framed from the Queen,
saying to open the letter in the year 2085 and read it to the people of Australia. We are still wondering what it might say. Any ideas? We then went to Hyde Park which had lovely fountains, Cathedral, statues of Captin Cook and Victoria and we had a nice picnic there. There was also a lovely contrast of old and new architecture around the park (see pictures). We then walked to the Opera House and studied it up close and that was very nice.
On the following day, we went to the Botanical Gardens and spent most of the day there. It had lovely views of the harbour/bridge/Opera House and an old Government House which we had a free tour around. It was really nice despite not being able to hear a word as the tour guide spoke really quietly. We finished the day off with a visit to the New South Wales art gallery, which was free of course, but we only managed to go round one of the floor so we have to go back shortly.
Yesterday we visited the famous Bondi Beach and luckily it was pretty empty considering that up to 35,000 people apparantly
come to it on a hot day. We saw many surfers, pros and begginners, which were great to watch. We then did a nice coastal walk down to Clovelly beach (about 2 hours away) and it had lovely scenery along the way. There was fitness equipment along the route which we had a go at and discovered we weren't very fit! As we were still very cold, we decided to invest in a 2 pound jumper for one lucky Bobby, while the other at the moment has to freeze.
Today we went to Darlington Harbour to the Maritine Museum which was massive and was probably the best museum we have been in so far considering it was free too! We learnt lots about the discovery of Australia and recent migrational history which even made Bobby cry in the museum. We also visited China town and we had our first Pizza since leaving England and it was heaven. We have also eaten beans/spagetti on toast now we have a communal kitchen and a toaster/firdge in our room!

G'day mates
Strewth, looks lovely. Make sure you stick some prawns on a barbie whilst you're there. I'd like a picture of a Bobby wearing a hat with corks on, please. Hope to take the quads to Oz one day when they are old enough. Bobbette said her first word yesterday - 'drongo'. So, your travels are clearly making an impression. Oh, and of course, time has moved on, so since last writing, the big news has developed. Too much to explain here, but the gist of it is that
