It seemed like only yesterday that I took Carmen to Rhodes to book our flight tickets...
She was so nervous that she forgot to turn the engine off in her car..she nearly hyperventilated on me. Understandable, she had been waiting for this trip since she was 18....
It is now 3 weeks since we arrived back home....it is time to close the blog 😞
In Europe for 3 months. We travelled 8 countries and visited 32 places, spoke 6 languages, changed time 3 times.
We travelled on trains, planes, automobiles, boats, funiculars, trams, ferries, gondolas, bicycles, pirate ship, crazy taxis, local buses, hop on and off buses, cable car, bike and we walked many kms and travelled many roads and seas. And never found loch ness.
We Mastered, , London, Paris, Barcelona, Athens metros and their ticket machines.
We visited museums, art galleries. churches, cities, big and little towns, beautiful beaches, relics, old ancient places, historic places, catacombs, plazas, mountains, castles, lakes, domos, volcano, hot springs, architectural wonders, beautiful islands, Iconic land marks.
Danced, sang, screamed to Bon Jovi and Sting. Clapped to traditional music, flamenco, faro, bouzouki and watched 50 shades of Maggi, the Book
of Mormon, Michael Jackson tribute....
Met local people from the cities we visited, especially waiters, hotel, apartment or beach personnel that always wanted to talk to us...yes we are loveable...
All other tourists from other countries and from Australia. Met up with some Great Friends from home.
We slept in hard beds, soft beds, singles, doubles, sofas in B&B, hotels, motels, apartments with showers that were normal, too big or small as a shoe box..with no pressure, too much pressure, too hot or too cold....we left a few bathrooms under water.
Had, great weather, heat waves, cold, rain, all that was missing was snow....
No problems ordering food, beer and wine ..and tasting the local food or drop, we especially had no problem ordering, dessert or pastries or ice cream. We dinned at Jaime Oliver, .Gordon Ramsey, and had the best stake at Harrods. Ate at places with the most beautiful views and had romantic views too LOL...no Carmen I am not going to marry you...Coffee was never the same as home...
We celebrated Carmens birthday...don't think she will forget that one...We have had the best nights out drinking and we concluded that the Irish
and Aussie pubs are everywhere in the world. Had we drank every night we would have missed a lot and our livers would have collapsed.
Off course how we can forget Eurovision...it's so much more fun in Europe...
We didn't shop till we dropped but we certainly bought....We styled our hair in places where we couldn't speak the language. Lucky we didn't come out with purple hair or a shaved heads....lucky for Carmen helmet...
We are not going to miss trying to make baggage weight on the planes, or trying to put the bags on the trains or trying to cram to packed buses......and we glad we are not carrying luggage up stairs into apartments..
Off course have to thank our special friend Wally who provided us entertainment by watching people's reactions ..... smiles, funny looks and weird looks....and giving some hard liners about the fat lady's ....
We can't forget the funny moments. the fight in the train, the 2 hours we got lost, the guy that followed me in the bus in malta, the guy that stared us down in Athens, or the not so there guy that invited us to party. The
run around, drinking and cobblestones in Lisbon, The emergency cord that Carmen set off in the building in Glasgow, the bike ride that carmen though we were going to do die in Edinburgh. The cop that nearly arrested Carmen in Barcelona. The guys that were selling beers in the street. The time we got lost in Portugal....even with a GPS. Carmen losing the keys to the lock in her bag in lyon. Carmen flirts with the crepe man in Paris. Carmens skirt went up and everyone saw her granny undies in Barcelona. The uncoordinated church bells. The Italian guys that spoke no English. The pretend barista in Salerno. When Carmen smashed that poor man hand in Athens. Oh the man that tried to sell me woollen socks in the middle of summer. The tour guide ring tone, oh fuck yeah! that went off in the church....Ok, most of the moments I remember are Carmens but makes up for all the bad shots she took off me.
I am sure I forgotten lots...and that the beauty of our blog we can relive every adventure...but for sure we have had an amazing experience and it's been nice to share it with
you. When I started the blog it,was mainly for family and friends so they could share our adventures and be part of our memories.....it was never meant to be a travel guide....and the pictures are not professional or adjusted, they are what we saw.
Thank you to all those that took the time to read and support our blogs...we were amazed at how many reminders we used to get to get up date with our blogs.....or asking if we were ok, as they hadn't seen our blogs...don't know what you guys are going to do now 😊))Maybe Carmen and i can go on the hop on and off bus in Sydney and report back...
It's true what they say....until you have been overseas...you really appreciate what you have at home.....
People ask us which is our favourite cities....each city has its own beauty, ugliness and fond memories...and each city holds something especial for each one of us.....so it's been hard to say...
Adios, Au Revoir, Ciao, Adeus, Yassas, Good bye Europe...we will miss you...but we will be back one day 😊
Singing off Chile con Carmen And Wally....XO
