Cabin
We got upgraded from an obstrcuted view to this great room, Aft, Deck 5, right near Charlie's, 5134 The plan for this morning was to find the best way to walk to the departure for the cruise ship on Hickson Rd and also to have an explore so we had a great wander through the alleyways and in and out of all the little nooks and shops. Breakfast was at the Gidday cafe $10 big brekky, a beer at Lowenbrau and then a not so short walk the long way to wharf 5 and the P&OPrincess Jewel, via the Irish Shop On George St.
Cruise departure is via a temporary terminal, so a huge tent with plenty of staff directing you along each point. First stop is to hand over your luggage which is then delivered to your cabin. 2ndstop is to book in and get your on board credit card, get your picture taken and wait until you are called. We were told boarding was happening in 2 hours so we bought a coffee and cake but we pleasantly surprised to board within the hour.
They called in sections and it was quite orderly with the 3rd stop being immigration. From there it was scan your hand luggage and proceed up the gangplank.

Prior to leaving, Sydney wharf 5 We had a great surprise to find our cabin with a whole window with a brilliant view when we were expecting an obstructed view due to life boats. We are port side on the 5th deck with a handy bar and coffee shop just 1 step away, the atrium deck.
The ship has 14 decks, 13 is missing, and 5 and up are passenger use, many bars and various eating venues as well as shops and entertainment areas. Pools, spas, a small library, and Internet area complete this for 1950 passengers.
5-30pm all passengers were called to their muster point to complete a lifejacket demonstration, each cabin has a jacket for each passenger and there are additional life jackets located in various spots.
Beers are $5-50 for a Tasmanian cascade, cocktails from $10 to $15 depending on the bar and the drink, real coffee $3-50 and unlimited food and drink at no cost in 4 dining venues.
12th deck has the Plantation Restaurant which is casual buffet dining. Crackers, cheese, fruit and vege snacks were perfect mid afternoon, and soup and bread rolls made a

leaving Sydney harbour great departure snack.
We sailed under the harbour bridge and out through the Sydney heads, there is quite a swell due to the ex cyclone which closed many beaches along the Qld coast in the last few days.
Dining tonight is the Waterfront Restaurant on the 8th level aft. This is one of the free dining venues, you only pay for drinks, but it is a la carte and silver service. With the choice of movies, karaoke, piano bars, dancing venues, live shows, it's time to stop typing and go and do!
Our 3 course meal was superb, I started with the beetroot and apple salad following with a pork and celeriac dish and finishing with creme brûlée with a nice bottle of sav blanc to wash it all down.
We finished the evening off with a karaoke listen and sing, truly some tragic people have a go at it in the name of entertainment, we had to leave when 3 guys had a go at the absolute murder of Bohemian rhapsody. I gave "The Rose" an airing but struggled to find some tunes I like, will have
