Hello everyone,
Just woken up on our first morning in Sydney Australia! We flew in from Melbourne Avalon airport, which wasn't really in melbourne but geelong and took an hour to get to as well as being one of the smallest airports known to man - similar to plymouth! The flight however seemed to be over in a flash where as no sooner had we taken of and made our ascent we were being told we were decending again back into sydney and infact the flight was quicker than our aiport shuttle from melbourne to the airport!
We arrived at our new hostel, Billabong gardens http://www.billabonggardens.com.au (take a looks<😉, at around 5pm and saw nicole walking around the corner whilst we were checking in, had a look around the hostel and all made fajitas for dinner! The hostel is really lovely and a far cry from base back in Melbourne! Its quite small and intimate with much fewer guests and a more homely and tropical feel, the rooms are very clean and open upon a large balcony overlooking the hostels pool, bbq and outdoor dining area (VERY nice) and there is a big kitchen, lounge/tv room and laundry, plus everyone seems to know everyone eats and socialises together and are all very friendly towards me and jamie!
Me and Jamie then decided that we would go explore the city despite the rain, which seems to follow us everywhere we land on a plane! We took a bus from the Hostel in Newtown to Circular Quay e.g the tourist hotspot in Australia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circular_Quay, here we saw the two landmarks I had been dying to see - the Sydney opera house and the Sydney harbour bridge all set in the beautiful quay and cruise terminal with the citys enormous sky scrapers in the background and I especially got a teeny bit over excited by the whole scene! Plus all i could think was that as we walked around looking at the landmarks, restaurants, ships and the city on water that my brother has just started a day at school in plymouth (haha :P). Now we are starting our first full day as sydneysiders and it is our friend Alex's birthday that we havn't seen since we left the UK! Happy 19th! I will update you soon with all the latest news from down under and pictures! Hannah xxx
