Hi travel followers.
We just realised it has been "five weeks" since the last blog. Where do the days and weeks go!!! We must say that the time has been action packed and the moss definitely hasn't grown under the "van".
From Old Bar on the last blog, we travelled to Hawks Nest for a few days. Unfortunately there was a strong wind blowing most of the time we were there and all we could do is many of the walks around town and along the beaches etc.
It was then on to Stockton Beach (Newcastle) for a week where we do our annual doctors check-ups and Lyn does her skin checks etc. I must say the weather here was excellent with beautifully warm days and we got the chance to do some swimming at the beach and catch some beautiful sunrises etc. See photos.
From there it was on to Mardi (near Wyong) for an extended stop at our great friends John and Lynn's place while we all (5 couples) did a 4 day/3 night Comedy cruise out of Sydney on the Pacific Jewel. What an excellent time we all had. Especially Lyn who celebrated her
birthday while on board, so we booked a "suite" and then the ships dining staff and cabin crew do extra little things like balloons outside the cabin and a cake that night for dinner where the staff and our friends all sung Happy birthday. She had a great day.
After returning from the cruise we then headed for Blair Athol (Mark and Mel's place) to spend a few days with Mel and our beautiful granddaughters Tahlee and Kiara. ( Pity Mark was overseas on deployment at the time) Boy are the girls growing up way too quick. While here I also managed to get my fix and do some maintenance jobs around the house for Mel since Mark was away.
It was then back to Mardi for a few more days and to attend the "60's bash" which John did a great job organising. For those that do not know, many of our friends on the Central coast are all around the same age and all turned or are about to turn 60 this year. It was just another great day and a chance for everyone to have a good catch up on what has been happening in
their lives.
The next move was on to Gloucester to catch up with Keith & Jude and to check out their long awaited "new house". I must say they have done an excellent job building and setting the house up and is a beautiful place for then to spend their retirement. While in Gloucester we did all the daily walks around the Boomerang walk and into town etc.
We also did the drive out to Copland State Conservation Area which has the Mountain Maid Gold Mine, plus the Lost Treasure Gold Mine. The scenery in the park was absolutely fabulous and we thoroughly recommend it. The following day we did the short drive and then the walk up to the top of the Bucketts. The walk is fairly steep and treacherous and Lyn didn’t go all the way to the top, but the scenery was spectacular. See photos.
From there it was on to North Haven which is a lovely spot just south of Port Macquarie and has some excellent walks into town plus along the break wall and beach etc. While here we also did a day trip to Timber Town (just
out of Wauchope) which show cases the area's timber cutting history. One of the highlights was watching and listening to the Bullock Team being hooked up to haul the logs once they are cut.
From there it was on to South West Rocks for another few days and to check out the old Trail Bay Gaol etc. This is just a beautiful spot to spend some time and relax for a while.
We are now at Sawtell (Just south of Coffs Harbour) for another few days to again check out all the local sights the area has to offer before again heading further up the coast.
I must say it is unreal to be able to just take our time to stop off at and explore all the little towns on the way up the coast that we have always driven past previously. Hope you like our story so far.

Fabulous sunrise shots
as usual!!.. I especially like the Stockton Sunrise and the misty sunrise over Bucketts. Yes, the time flies by. North Haven looks like a lovely spot too. I am glad you enjoyed your birthday, on the cruise ship. Keith and Jude would have enjoyed your visit. Their house is lovely.
