Electric Banjo
No nothing to do with hearing banjo's - this litte implement is the fly swot, great fun for a little bit of exercise. DAY 47 (Christmas Eve)
One thing we definitely know is it doesn’t feel like it is Christmas, people are constantly wishing us a merry Christmas, and every time we hear that it’s like a memory jog. I suppose its because the nights are not short, and we haven’t seen that many Christmas decorations on the houses, and the other thing is that it is warm, definitely shorts and T shirts, not coats, and hats like good ole blightly.
The other thing we got into this year was that we were not going to buy each other anything as a gift, our trip was going to be expensive enough and we have already spent a lot of money on the truck and the camper trailer, so we needed to be sensible.
As we miss our friends and family more than we miss materialistic gifts we ave been delighted to speak to many of our friends on Skype which has been fantastic, and we are looking forwards to speaking to our families on Christmas day, with the time difference of 11 hours we will have had our Christmas lunch, whilst you lot are fast asleep in bed.
We
Attempts at Swotting
Very tricky to get one of the little blighters in mid air. were tracking Santa via Norad, at 2.19 pm (Australian Time), he was just over Argentina and already had visited the British Isles.
Norad is the bi-national U.S.-Canadian military organization responsible for the aerospace and maritime defence of the United States and Canada. NORAD, created by a 1958 agreement between Canada and the United States, provides advanced warning of impending missile and air attack against its member nations, safeguards the air sovereignty of North America, and maintains airborne forces for defence against attack. Norad’s mission has evolved ove r the years. We think its just a bit of a laugh and because we both believe in Santa, we wanted to make sure he came to see all our friends and family.
We took the dog out for a long walk, 5.4 Kilometres along Lemon Tree passage which was a gorgeous walk, I don’t know about tiring Nala out but I did get a couple of hours snooze on the sofa afterwards.
The Australian telly is just pants, but I think their philosophy is why sit in front of the telly when you could be out in the sunshine doing something much more entertaining. Anyway we got to speak to some dear friends then hit the sack (not Santa’s sack!).
One final thing that provides us with entertainment is the “Electric Banjo” WHICH IS AN ELECTRIFIED FLY SWOTTER. As Caroline has been ferociously bitten she has absolutely no remorse when it come to Killing fly’s, mozzies and Sandflys. This thing is great fun you just either swat them with the grid electrified or put it over them. Faye said for heavens sake do not touch the grid with your hand, it will give you a hell of a belt.
We are off to bed, tired but content, the dog sleeps at the end of the bed, nice and quiet.
