Trixie Descends
Trixie decided that Andy needed some company as he took a rest on the veranda. Day 95
The day started early again for Andy, he got up to help Helen down at the local hall, which had recently had a new kitchen but there was a dust storm shortly after and it seems that the dust had been blown under the door which left a layer more than an inch thick in places. Helen had arranged a team for a clean up and Andy went down just in case there was any heavy work to be done.
I could still see smoke around when I got up. It was quite thick in places and I could not see the mountains in the distance that had graced this landscape so beautifully when we first arrived.
Today was all about Jack; he was being castrated today and was due for collection from the vets later this afternoon. Poor Jack, what a shock for him, but I am sure he will feel much better for it once it is all over, he really was unwell when we took him in last Saturday morning.
I set about looking into sailings on the Spirit of Tasmania and the prices, we wanted to get the best possible price
Doggy Hospital
Wagga Wagga Vets, where Jack has been for the past 4 days. and it is not really a cheap crossing. However the one thing that would help lower the prices is that the Tasmanian children are now back at school so there is an Autumn sale on.
This is one place Andy really wants to go to as it has an abundance of wildlife. They say its like England in the 18, hundreds.
We had to work out the length of the truck and the trailer, as the longer the vehicle the higher the price. There is also a cost per head of each passenger in the car. I was unable to do this on the website as you had to telephone if you had anything non-standard, and non-standard included Caravans and Trailers.
The prices were coming back very expensive for the dates that we wanted to travel so we started to look at alternatives. The other problem being that the route we originally wanted to take would take us right through some high risk areas (bush fire) and areas already badly affected, which we wanted to try and avoid so as not to add to the burden of the already stretched emergency services and of course not wanting
Bewildered
A bewildered Jack is returned to Helen and the "doggy hospital" to put ourselves at risk by camping remotely in a high risk area.
Andy was feeling tired today, I think the early mornings and the hard work sheep feeding is catching up with him. He is enjoying doing it as it is something different.
After lunch we went into Wogga with Helen, we needed some groceries, Helen needed to go to the travel agent and pick up Susan’s travel information as she is coming home from Africa this weekend for 6 weeks. Helen also needed to pick up a few things for Robert and of course we needed to pick up Jack before the vets closed.
Andy and I were excited about seeing Jack, we arrived at the vets in Wogga with anticipation and before long the vet brought Jack through and there he was looking rather bewildered. Helen put his lead on and we were away. Outside Jack looked around and very slowly got his bearings before being led to the car. Even inside the car Jack looked a bit bewildered, he may have wondered where he was going.
We got him home, and his dog buddies all welcomed him back, with open paws. Helen
Redback
This female Redback is lurking in one of the farm sheds had recommended a fild called the castle which we managed to get hold of and intended to watch it tonight when Robert went to the Shire meeting.
As Helen has been cooking every night for us, again we wanted to treat then so we had decided to do a chilly, and a hot one as Robert had had an early evening meal.
Jason had come over for Chilly as well, and we all settled down for the film, and we can recommend it is well worth the watch.
We hit the sack just after ten, and Andy had an early start feeding the sheep early in the morning.
