Blue Mountains Trip 1
Raining! (Liverpool St) Got up at 6:30 for our day trip to the Blue Mountains. Pulled back the curtains and could not see the harbour due to fog - groan! Still, we got ready and walked to our arranged pickup point with Australia Pacific Tours - was bucketing it down! The arranged time came and went so had to share a taxi to the main office pickup point in time for the tour. APT did not want to know about the fact they'd not picked us up - was in a mood then!
We got underway and had a morning tea stop in Leura. The shop opposite our tea shop has a bench for bored husbands! Got to Echo Point - where the 3 sisters are supposed to be - but all we saw was a complete white-out of fog! So we had piccies with the giant koala in the visitor centre instead! Got to Scenic World at the top of the Jameson Valley and had our light lunch - ham and cheese croissant - not bad - birds got some of it. Then went on the world's steepest railway - was good as we were below the clouds. After a quick walk
Blue Mountains Trip 2
Morning tea stop in Leura along the path, we caught the Cableway to the top of the valley - great views of the Katoomba falls. The coach driver Warren kindly went back to Echo Point, and yay! there was some brief sun so that we got to see the 3 sisters - magic!
Then it was brief photo stop - again fog over the Megalong valley and on to Featherdale Wildlife park. Was great as got to see wallabies, roos, koalas, wombats, and a croc in the flesh.
Overall a bit of a rushed day dodging the weather - would do it again by catching the train to Katoomba and then the Blue Mountain Explorer bus.
