So the last few days have been action packed, so let me bullet point this before I forget something. Manly On Thursday I took the ferry over to Manly to OceanWorld. Small venue but very cute and does try to pack in a lot of fish despite the lack of space. If it wasn't for the rain I would have liked to have explored around Manly as it's very picturesque and I imagine that in the summer that it would be very beautiful but unfortunately I managed a walk on the beach, a look in at the museum and that was it. The evening consisted watching Dexter and watching drama pursue in the hostel. Apparently if you date someone for a few days you're married! Blue Mountains Friday started very early with a trip to the ... read more

Hello uliedi! xD On to days 6 and 7, ghax I'm never gonna manage to write all the stuff we've been doing... So little time. So basically on Day 6, (last Wednesday) wen went up the Sydney Tower, which was nice, but a bit of a joke compared to the CN Tower in Canada (that was great, right Finian?). It was about 260m high. The CN Tower is about 550, and the new Burj Dubai in Dubai (like duh) is something like 900m. But even so, it was pretty, and we saw all the city from waay up high and all that jazz. Also, I decided to take a picture from every single one of the 50-something windows, so I can stitch them into a giant panorama when I get back home. Hopefully that will work ... read more

Today we drove up to the Blue Mountains, which are actually quite green from close up, but apparently have a blueish hue when observed from far-off... Whatever. I can't seem to upload pics from this stone age artifact, so you'll have to do with my commentary for now... :/ Anyway, Blue Mountains. Ok so first we went to the house of some Norman Lindsey guy, who, apparently, was an artist (and he wrote a few books for good measure). He was also a PERV. I mean honestly, *everything* was naked. Dirty old man... But anyway, besides that they were actually quite nice. If you could actually see anything in between all the mammary glands. He's the guy who wrote "The Magic Pudding," by the way. As if you crared, you freaks, you're all googling his paintings! ... read more

This lovely dining table was made my Steve's brother, Rob during his Year 12 woodwork class. He made it for Sarah and Steve. I took some photos when it was on display at the school. Rob made it for his Year 12 Major Woodwork Project. It is beautiful isn't it.... read more

I'd love to write a whole saga, but I am extravagantly LATE, and have got to go immediately before my parents behead me... Until I'm back (going to Downtown Sydeny again), behold the pictures... ****** Ok I finally seem to have some chance to write something... But time too . It's been totally crazy, we haven't stopped. I'm actually in Melbourne now, we left Sydney and are stuck here for the coming week. Anyway, on with days 3 and 4. So day three was rather... Dull, actually. Not that it wasn't nice or anything, but it was rather slow compared to the rest of the week. Basically, we drovve up to (dum dum dum dum) HUNTER'S VALLEY, which sounds really ominous and exciting and stuff, but is really just a large field-y area where wrinklies taste ... read more

Hellooooooooooo xD. How's life? Great here, bit cold though... Having lots of fun... I must admit, I was a bit worried when I saw the names of some places on the plane monitor... Wagga wagga, Whyalla, Warmanbul... Slightly weird. Anyway it was unfounded coz it's a rather nice place. Couple of weirdos but what the hell :D. Yesterday was a looooooong day. We woke up, drove to the train station and caught a train to downtown Sydney. It is very nice :P. And then we went to Paddy parket or something and bought an Ozzy Hat xD (Fedora). Most extremely faqa :P Made of kangaroo leather (muahahahahahaaaa). After that we walked around a bit, then we went to eat at a giant food court, where there are like 20 different restaurants and you just pick what ... read more

Today Martina, Chris, Annika and Tom (Chris is Pat's eldest son) met us at the Gosford Waterfront Park for lunch. We enjoyed catching up with them all, eventhough it was a tad windy. Steve, Meagan and I, Pat and Kes and mum and Sheelagh were there also. We enjoyed fish and chips for lunch. Annika and Tom enjoyed climbing on the playground equipment.... read more

The morning news is full of shots of flooding all along the coast. Brisbane, our destination, has been hit will the worst flooding in 40 years and there is aerial shot after shot of washed out bridges and boat rescues. The forecast is for even more rain. We consider changing our plans, but as Brisbane is more a direction than a destination, we load up the car and head off North all the same. After 2 months of mountains and curvy roads, it is a relief to find flat ground and straight highways. We spend some time getting out of Sydney, but our soon heading North though rock cuts that remind me of the 400 highway near Parry Sound. We consider stopping when we see the sign for a place called Toronto, but continue on and ... read more

I’ve been talking about WWOOFing for weeks. I was starting to get discouraged - every host family I called near Toowoomba and Noosa either didn’t have enough work or already had a full roster of wwoofers. Finally, while in Brisbane for the second time, I made a list of interesting looking hosts near the Newcastle area. Lucky for me, the first family I called said that I could come the following Tuesday, which was about a week later. This was fantastic! I had a week to visit Byron Bay and Nimbin and then could start making my way south towards Newcastle. The basis of the WWOOFing experience is an exchange relationship between the wwoofer and the host. As I said some weeks earlier, WWOOFing stands for Willing Workers On Organic Farms. Hosts across Australia, and around ... read more
