Dear followers, I'm back with an update about my trip to the Blue Mountains. I got up very early and went with a friend from the same hostel, to the pick-up point. At 7AM we were already on our way for a big adventure ! We almost had 2 accidents due to stupidity of other drivers, luckily the bus driver kept his head cool and avoided them. The day started with a visit to the Featherdale Wildlife Park, we were able to pet the kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, koala's, emus, ... all the typical Australian animals you can think off ! We got 1 hour to walk through the Park on our own and do whatever we want. It was an absolute unique experience to get this close to the animals in a save environment, therefore I'm ... read more

3 avril (Sydney) Mon cadran sonne. Le ... read more

Hello. This is our last full day in Sydney and we scheduled a full-day tour of an area called the Blue Mountains. It turned out to be a very interesting, but very tiring, so we did not get the description written until the next day (Thursday). Here is what we did on Wednesday. We started pretty early again with a complimentary pickup at 7:00. David went across to a nearby Starbucks for a couple of pastries at 6:30, which we were able to eat in the hotel whilst we waited for the bus. We were the first pickup and we rode around town for about an hour before arriving at the central location. We got on our correct bus (with driver/guide named Peter) and we were set for the day at 8:00. We had about a ... read more

The plan was to do two long tracks in only one day: 1. Prince Henry Cliff Walk (11km) 2. Governs Leap (13km)Unfortunately I started my tramping day too late and ended up doing the Govetts Leap when the sun set. There were still 6 km to conquer to reach the carpark. I had to rely on my intuition and all my senses of orientation to make my way through the dark bush. I was lucky to have my light with me and to look for possible tracks. The bad thing about Australia's tracks is the missing sign. You have to decide which direction it is going to be. It was very confusing and scaring to spend so much time and energy on finding your right route. I climbed slippery, steep cliffs and crossed rivers at night ... read more

Wednesday 12th February, 2014. Furber Steps Walk, Katoomba Scenic Railway & Wentworth Falls. Blue Mountains After breakfast we packed up our things and then chucked our stuff in a locker before making our way towards Katoomba Falls. We found a path to follow via a small creek which would allow us to see the falls from lower down. It was extremely misty and we couldn't see very much at all. We took a photo of the cable car from a lookout as it appeared out of the mist. At the bottom of the track the falls were signposted 100 metres to our left. It was very boggy and slippery after the rain last night. We reached the lookout and the sun (what there was of it!) was in exactly the wrong place for photos - we ... read more

After ten days of complete silence, and over 100 hours of meditation, I can now say I have successfully completed the vipassana meditation course in black health, blue mountains. I can honestly say I have never experienced something so moving and deep within myself. By far the most challenging thing I have ever taken part in. One would think that basically doing nothing all day would be quite easy. By being limited to doing nothing but meditate, eat and sleep without having any contact with others what so ever, it pushed me to explore my own thoughts and mind. What a shocking realization of how ignorant I have been for most of my life. Most of you are probably unaware of what the idea behind vipassana is, and I'm still wrapping my head around the idea ... read more

Das passt ... read more

Vi skulle tidligt op - alt for tidligt. Faktisk VIRKELIG tidligt..

As it was a long weekend I wanted to go somewhere further than usual, to make the most of the extra day free. This is how I came up with the blue mountains. I've been before on a day trip but Alex had never been so we found a list of all the walks available and on Saturday decided on a 3 hour nature circuit at Wentworth falls. At the beginning of the walk the sound of cicadas was deafening. I'd never seen a cicada before, but I've seen plenty now! There were thousands of empty cicada shells covering numerous trees too, which was quite cool to see. About an hour into the walk we stopped for a picnic lunch at a lookout, giving us great views over a valley. After lunch we continued our walk ... read more
