At home before heading to the 60th party by Lake Burley Griffin.Sorry, this one's a bit late coming, but I thought I'd wrap up the stories of the last few weeks prior to my departure for TOKYO..!
So, after finishing up in Sydney, I was lucky enough to have 3 WHOLE WEEKS in which to get everything ready for leaving for the big trip. Gosh, I've not had that much time off in a long time and it felt
GOOD!
Christmas entailed sunny days by the pool at my parent's house in Canberra. Over one particular BBQ we even opened a 1973 bottle of Grange from the house cellar. What a tough life! Anyway, the wine was beautiful and why not enjoy it with a snag!?
Not long after Christmas, we also had a big joint party for Mum & Dad's 60th birthdays. Doing things in style, we hired a marquee right by the lake and had a fantastic turn out of friends, family and loved ones. It really was a glorious day.
Then within solid days of packing, japan job hunting, travel sorting etc etc there was also time to head back to Sydney for New Years, spend some time at the beach, head back to Canberra
and then head back to Sydney again before flying out. Murrays Coaches have certainly got a good deal of business from both Dom & I in the last few weeks!
The night before flying out, I'd arranged for final drinks on the roof top of the Glenmore pub in the Rocks. It was a really warm evening and watching the sun set over the city was really special. Somehow 6 hours on that roof managed to fly by and there was then only one sleep left...
Dom took off both the Tuesday & Wednesday from work, and on Weds we spent the day together at Watson's Bay, soaking up as many sunrays as possible. The coldest winter since World War 2 was only 24 hours away!
Anyway, I'll wrap things up here and provide another installment shortly about my new life in TOKYO!..........
