Dec 2. Birds of a morning. Spruiked til noon. Drove to Canberra.
Dec 3. Woke in my usual spot at the bottom of Mt. Ainslie to a mob of kangaroos, the gravelly chatter of a flock of gang-gang, miner, rosella, mynah, magpei, galah, cockatoo, king parrot. Eastern rosella: red head, breast, back yellow green, scaled black, yellow, blue, green white etc. On top Mt. Ainslie white winged clough almost all black til it flies. Not much to say. No news.
Nov 4. Went to all media outlets. Labour leadership grabs all attention. Met bloke in front of ABC with sticker on car from my last visit Canberra.
Nov 5. Leaving Canberra last gasp channel WIN tomorrow filming looks likely. Lake Burley Griffin seagulls, ducks, purple swamp hen, coots, black swan. Later chanced upon Canberra Yacht Club for hot shower, beer and second test Adelaide, last day needing 168 to win. Met Judy and John. She put me on to previous editor Canberra Times. When I called he sid he'd get present editor to call tomorrow likely!!! Barby in park by lake. Aussie wins second test!
Dec 6. Trashy Treasure
Canberra jewel of pleasant lake.
Black Mountain clad in trees.
Besmirched by human trash
your parks and paths nowhere unsullied.
NO CALL. Three chances. Three strikes. Very hot. Barby. Later went to YC for beer. Race on. Met Gus. Looked like a drifter. He said come along. I was on main. As soon as race started it gusted to 20 knots. Three laps in 45 minutes. He's on Loki for Sydney-Hobart.
