Completement fou. Mardi : On est allées: visiter l'esposition "the Bodies". C'est une expo sur le corps humain, où l'on peut voir tout le corps humain sous toutes ... read more

Hey everybody, Ryan and I are about to begin our world travels and we are both pretty stoked about it! I'll give you a little background as to why we decided to take this trip. After a trip to Fiji last summer, we both decided to make a trip of epic proportions. In Fiji, which was my first ever real international trip outside of North America, I had an awesome time meeting all types of people and learning about the culture there. I found these to be major influences in deciding to travel again. Another major factor was a bit more humbling. The realization that, although the US is a large and very influential country in the world, it's really just a small part of it. The fact that Ryan and I had the opportunity to ... read more

I was in Colorado from 9 - 12 Apr 07 for a business trip. It was a whirlwind trip really. We flew direct from Singapore to Los Angeles, 14+ hours on Singapore Airlines' Airbus 340-500, which was the most comfortable flight I had as the plane comes with spacious seats and leg room (executive economy). After waiting for a couple of hours in LAX for our flight to Denver, we were told that the flight was cancelled. We spent the night at the Westin Airport hotel. We arrived in Denver noon the next day. There was a traffic jam from the Airport to Downtown, and we finally arrived at the Ramada Inn Downtown around half past two. We cancelled the meeting for the day and went Downtown. Because of the one-day delay, you can imagine how ... read more

April 12 - 17 This week I met the “Policia de Mexico.” I now realize it was never a matter of if, only when. Both times (yes twice in one week) I was driving. The first time was in Queretaro. My brother Lance was visiting. We picked him up at the airport and decided to take him on a little tour in the city. After stopping for cake and then tacos we decided to head home. I thought I could find a shortcut by driving into an area where I had never been. I took a couple of turns and then decided that I am driving the wrong way on a one way street. Not really that big of deal because people in Mexico do it all the time and the street is dead with no ... read more

My busiest time of the year is typically around the “National Association of Broadcasters” conference in Las Vegas, NV in the spring. These six or so days (including a weekend) are very long days that go from 7:00 AM to past midnight everyday, so in order to prepare physically and mentally for the marathon, I usually take a day off prior to the show and visit one or two of the amazing places that are within driving distance from Las Vegas. This year, the choice was to go to Mount Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. So, in order to have adequate time for the visit, it was critical to leave Las Vegas very early in the morning (around 6:00 AM local time). One of my colleagues from China, Sam Yeung, joined me in this ... read more

thursday april 12 so, on my laptop, xanga's commands are still all in chinese. it's a bit strange. since my isp is obviously in missouri now. so i'm sitting in panera bread using lovely wireless. i WENT to el starbuckso but GUESS WHAT? THEY DIDN'T HAVE WIRELESS! how in the hell can starbucks NOT have wireless? it defies the entire purpose... besides the coffee, that is. in fact, i think i'm going to see if i can like leave a comment or suggestion on the website regarding this issue. because believe me, IT IS an issue! okay, so i just did the customer service thing at starbucks.com. being back at the lake is so disconcerting. i keep seeing people i know. or at least people i recognize. might have gone to school with them? maybe they're ... read more

Natchez Trace Parkway: Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee We leisurely drove the Parkway. The speed limit is 50 miles an hour. There are no stop lights or stop signs. There are no billboards. There is just lots of greenery and it’s an entirely different view from most roads. It’s RV friendly with loops that make it possible to pull-off and re-enter without backing up, so we could stop at various points of interest along the parkway. There are lots of places to stop and there are signs that describe what is significant about the area. There are paths to hike and at some places it is possible to hike on the old trace. There are a few areas that are called The Sunken Trace and it is an area that the path is worn down. Some areas have ... read more

Easter long weekend 2007 we drove the 7 hours up the coast from LA to San Francisco. Definitely our favourite US city so far it had a bit of everything. Downtown reminds us of Melbourne with the trams etc but much bigger and better in a London (great shopping)crossed with New York (fire escapes on buildings & hotel porters hailing yellow cabs) kinda way. There are steep hills everywhere like you see in all the "cop TV shows & movies" with the down hill car chases which were very scary to drive down & up at first. But the great thing about all the hills is that everywhere you go you can see the water that surrounds the city which looks like Sydney Harbour with all the sail boats etc. Also all over the San Francisco ... read more

11/04/07 - 12/04/07 Viva Las Vegas! My hands weren’t exactly shaking as I sat down at the Poker table; cause the stakes weren’t that high but I was extremely nervous. The table was a Texas No Limit Hold ‘Em table with $1 and $2 blinds. Minimum $100 buy-in and max $300 but the cash tables run all night so I sat down with players holding hundreds of dollars of chips. This means that you invariably join as the short-stacked player and so need to make some kind of early move to stay at the table. After losing a few dollars just to see flops with reasonable hands, I finally moved all in with $60 pre-flop holding a suited Ace, Jack of diamonds. I was instantly called and saw a pair of 8’s in my opponents’ hand. ... read more

My trip to Hawai'i in April confirmed that I have the coolest island buddies in the world! First of all, Jen and Julie were the best Hawai'i travel partners you can get. They played with me tirelessly. Surfing Hale'ewa, tearing up Makapu'u and Diamond Head, swimming at Lanikai, and Jen's nakey yoga- these ladies from Pittsburgh never stopped! They even saved my life with their blood-curling screams as I drove the yellow rental car the wrong way down King Street (since when is King one way??) And I also have the coolest Hawaiian paddling buddies ever, you Waikiki Surf Club paddlers. Luana and Richline, a big mahalo for letting me in the boat again. My glorious return to the Ala Wai and the great beyond! You owe Kelii and Alan a round of beers for ... read more
