Day One

“I like the way your sparkling earrings lay against your skin so brown…” Four years ago we made a plan to go on an extended (ten week) cross-country tour….we saved money, met periodically, and mapped out our route. Four years have passed. Both of the “babies” have finished high school, one off to college, one entering the job market. Leave of absences have been granted, arrangements made for home and pets, supplies bought, a mini-van packed… and re-packed, goodbyes said… and here we go… four of us… friends, Donna, Jack, Ginny and Bill off on a long dreamed of adventure. The Sparkling Earrings Tour…and to quote John as we pulled out of the driveway this morning…”what the hell are we doing”?
Left Abington at 8:15am…. delightful ride through rolling farmlands of up-state NY. Ate lunch at rest stop…in a dog park…watch where you step!!! On to Sault Ste. Marie tomorrow.
Today’s road lesson: Do not open the back of the van without checking for shifted contents.
