Lost Baby Elk

Sometimes nature does not seem so very nice. We happened upon a mother elk with two babies near it. One of the babies was allowed to suckle but when the other would approach the mother would run it off. This went on for awhile and then finally the other mother arrived and was reunited with the lost little baby elk. Do not know what would have happened if the mother had not shown up. We were watching a nature film while in Kruger National Park in South Africa and the ranger said if a mother zebra is killed none of the other zebras step up to help the orphan. Interesting the rules of nature.
