Day 3

Canyon Lake

Up early with a light breakfast. We loaded up the car with food, drinks and water and headed off to Canyon Lake. On the way was the usual stop for our Starbucks coffee which went down really well. It was a couple of hours drive. Rob had headed off early to make sure that he picked up the pontoon. We met up with Rob and loaded the rest of the eskies, food and the noodles on board and then off we headed for a day on the water.
We cruised around the lake which had stunning cliffs and scenery to find a sheltered space to stop to go for a swim. Rob found a spot and of course the men were the first in the water. Karly and I were a little slower. We eventually went in floating around with noodles. We had a fun time. Then off we went further up the smaller arm. We stopped and watched some mountain sheep high up on the cliffs looking for food. When we then stopped and had lunch followed by cheese, biscuits, wine and beer. We then moved along and saw a mountain goat standing right up
on top of the cliff.
We found a lovely little alcove to stop for a while and swim some more. While we were swimming we noticed some dark clouds developing. We decided that it was time to head back. We just made it back to the car before the clouds opened on us.
On the way back we stopped off at a small ghost town. We had a walk around and went into a reptile display and saw a couple of rattle snakes and scorpions. Scott used his torch to shine the light on the snake to encourage it to rattle its tail and it certainly did.
Driving home we stopped off at the BassPro shop to show Ron. We had a look at the firearm section and we were amazed at the guns that you can just buy over the counter and a display of bullets out in the aisle.
Famous Dave’s was the stop for dinner. There we had delicious spare ribs with corn muffins and wedges. After dinner we continued home and headed straight into the spa for a couple of more drinks and a chat.

Love the ghost town shot
The ghost town looks fab. I love the ginormous cacti ? ?. Not so excited about the snake photo. Still, it’s better to see snakes in a cage rather than on the hiking trail. ?T
