Day 5 – Wednesday, Aug 22nd
Today was the day we would finally be in Yellowstone!!
We got up early again, checked out of the motel and then ate Breakfast at McDonalds. Outside of our motel room was a planter with a bunch of flowers. Mama wanted to take my picture with them. Later in the day, mama was looking at the pictures on her camera and started laughing. I asked her what she was laughing about and she said the picture of me and the flowers had a blooming idiot in it….me 😊
Today was mostly just driving and looking at the scenery along the way while heading to Yellowstone. I was having trouble with my GPS freezing up and this morning the maps refused to load. It stayed frozen on the boot up screen. We reached Moran Jct about 1 p.m. so instead of heading up to Yellowstone, we went south toward Jackson so I could get another GPS. We stopped at some of the pull-outs along the way looking at the Teton Mountains. There was a heavy hazy on them because of smoke from the

fires in Idaho.
Once in Jackson, we ate lunch at Wendy’s then went to Kmart to buy a GPS and some picnic supplies for Yellowstone. When we were in Wendy’s I asked one of the employees if there was a place I could buy a GPS. She did not speak English. I’m not sure what language she spoke. I’m use to other ethnic groups not speaking English in Texas but was surprise to find the same thing in Wyoming. She looked Caucasian. Later, I heard several of the Wendy employees having a conversation in a different language. I wish I knew what language. I found that interesting.
Since we have had trouble finding hotel vacancies on this trip, we stopped at a hotel and made reservation for Saturday night since we will be leaving Yellowstone Saturday morning.
We left Jackson about 3 p.m. heading back north to Yellowstone. Due to construction and the slow speed limit we finally arrived at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge in Yellowstone about 6:30 p.m. I was really impressed with the lodge. When I made the reservations back in January, I was told it had been totally redone and updated. I would

definitely stay at this lodge again.
Once we were checked in and the luggage unloaded, we grabbed a bit to eat at the grill in the lodge, and then went to watch Old Faithful erupt. The lodge is within easy walking distance of Old Faithful. I was finally back in Yellowstone after over 10 years!! Now if I could just see some of the wild animals. We have not seen any since entering into Yellowstone.
