I have been a member of the illustrious Adventure rider forum for a couple of years no, before I left I posted a thread asking for help with a nice route as to get the biggest bang for my bucks, I got a lot of info and this has served me well to find some good spots. I also got invited to one member, Jeff’s house and also for a little spin, we went out into the wide open, on roads that I probably could find but really would not dare to go out on on my own, you’d never know where they end up. I left Idaho falls after having paid through the nose and other orifices as well, but WTF. I got to Jeff’s house and got rid of my panniers, and thus lightened ... read more

Today was yet another day of driving across Wyoming, but we've just about got the job done. We discovered during the night that our campground in Greybull was surprisingly close to a rail yard- a rail yard where they worked all night slamming rail cars together. It was a tough night for sleeping. Leaving Greybull, you soon have to climb up and over the Bighorn Mountains, to an altitude of over 9000 feet. To reduce strain on the motorhome we left the car unattached until we got down the other side of the mountains. From there on we were back to prairie driving through slightly hilly terrain. We saw pronghorns several times. We stopped for the night in Sundance, Wyoming, on the edge of the Black Hills and just 19 miles from the South Dakota border. ... read more

Spearfish, South Dakota, United States Saturday, October 17, 2009 Thursday, June 11, 2009 We'd been retired for nine months and it was time to get reacquainted with our 11-yr.-old granddaughter, Lauren. She lives in Springfield, MO and we live in Englewood, FL. So we packed up the camper with our two cats, Ryan and Mitzi, and set off on an adventure which should include a route taking us to MO, then to WY, then to MN. Before we had gone 100 miles, we regretted taking the cats, but we had left them home for 15 days when we toured Peru last month and didn’t want to leave them again. They were soon relegated to the camper for the duration of the trip! After our lunch stop, we noticed a strange smell coming from the truck along ... read more

We left at the crack of dawn today to get a good start on the Big Horn Mountains. They are the last set of climbs we should have to make. When we got to the peak (9,666 feet) there was still snow on the peaks as well as some of the snow breaks. They must have had great amounts of snow this past winter. Any way, we finally put down roots in Sundance, Wyoming. We decided to take a closer look at Devil's Tower. We got the last spot in the Mountain View RV park, ate lunch and headed north. We traveled to Devils Tower with a group of club members during the 2002 Sturgis Rally. I don't remember getting as close to the tower as we did today so I assume the rest of the ... read more
