Today we enjoyed whitewater rafting on the Snake River. We shared our raft with 2 couples from Australia. It was their first time in the US (they had their motorcycles shipped over in May for this trip with their ultimate destination being Sturgis). The boys sat in front so they got the most wet. Along the way we saw 2 bald eagles and an osprey. Needless to say we had a lot of fun. We hung out at our cabin for a bit with the boys going for a swim in the pool and Dean and I sitting on the porch listening to a band prepare for a wedding just across the creek from us. We decided to catch the sunset in Grand Teton National park so we packed up and headed off for a drive. ... read more

This is our first trip to Wyoming. We left Philadelphia and passed through Denver on our way here. Spent 3 hours in the Denver Airport unexpectedly waiting for our plane to arrive. When we got to Jackson Hole we spent some time walking around town seeing a few parks in town, some cool artwork, and of course shops. Had some barbeque at Bubbas to top off the day and we ended our day back at the Rustic Inn where we have a "cabin" room with a porch on a quiet creek. And of course the boys ended the day with a swim at the pool.... read more

Geo: 43.4799, -110.762Since we were going to have to wait for mail to arrive, we decided to make the most of our time and go hang out in the Gros Ventre campground and see if the moose were there as they have been in past years. The weather was beautiful as we drove there and the view of the Tetons was pristine as it had been most other years we have been here. We did not see any moose as we drove down toward the campground but were hoping to find some in camp.Got the same campsite we had last year in hopes seeing the badger come through like it had the year before. Got set up and had dinner out on the picnic table. Had palak paneer we had brought from Santa Fe with rice and ... read more

After attempting to dry out our laptop charger in a bag of rice...we had to finally give in last night and buy a new one. So here are updates of our last adventures. Jackson Hole/ Grand Tetons We arrived via Oregon late in the evening and found a great ?parking spot/campsite/ field that allows camping! We stayed along the Snake River and woke up to a fire and breakfast along the water with the Tetons peeking out around the corner. We headed into town the next morning, found a campsite to call "home" and went off to tour the national park. The sites are incredible- you just stare up at the mountains in awe. The buffalo graze in the grass slowly and the elk stare up at your car as you stop to watch. Initially we ... read more

Hi all- we are here in Jackson Hole WY soaking up the beautiful western city and the Grand Tetons over our campsite. We have explored both the Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks- done some hiking- we have seen LOTS of wildlife- and experienced the true western feel off the town over a cowboy chuckwagon dinner at a local cattle ranch- and last night even went to a rodeo! We are having a bit of difficulty charging our computer (ok so maybe the charger got a bit wet!) but we have some amazing photos to hopefully get on here soon....so just a quick message via my phone today but hoping to figure out how to charge our computer tonight/tomorrow in town. Happy Memorial Day - ill miss you all at the cemetery/ Strafford Farms. S*... read more

NOTE: Click on any picture to enlarge it. Day 8 – Saturday, Aug 25th, 2012 During the 2 days we had been in Yellowstone, we had not explored the geysers near the lodge. We walked over to watch old faithful go off 1 more time and see some of the other geysers. When we arrived at old faithful, a ranger lead program was just starting. We listened to her as she talked about old faithful’s history and how they calculate when old faithful will erupt. Once the eruption was over, we went with the ranger on a tour of the some of the other geysers in the area. We were not able to complete the tour because we had to check out of the lodge at 11:00. Every year on August 25th, Yellowstone employees celebrate Christmas ... read more

Left around 10am, and saw the usual solo buffalo causing havoc again. Went down to see the famous Old Faithful Geyser. A clock at the gift shop told us it was due to go off between 11.50am and 12.10pm so we did some shopping and then watched the geyser do his stuff right on midday (it happens naturally around every 90 mins) and so much better to see natural than the NZ immitation we saw at Roturua. We drove on to the southern exit of Yellowstone National Park and barely saw any wildlife (maybe due to driving in the middle of the day ?). We soon entered another National Park being Teton and stopped at Colter Bay for lunch. As we entered the car park Luke woke up from his sleep and said "look there is ... read more

GrandTeton deserves that name: Grand! I travelled around the NP a little, but I didn’t feel so well so I only did a few short trails. Jenny Lake and some other one, only a couple of miles. I bunkered down after that in a hotel and watched ‘Avatar’ and the ‘Matrix’ trilogy on cable while sampling some red wine. It had to be done and I’m glad I didn’t get any more sick than that for now. What I treasure the most about Grand Teton though was a huge, electric sign just before the South Entrance to Yellowstone NP (which was still closed due to snow/ice on the road)that read: Warning, bear with cubs xing. How cool is that? I bummed about that area for a while hoping the bear would cross, but it was not ... read more

After eating Chinese in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, I stopped at a unique place that resembled Dollywood, Tennessee. It was like a back alley in the New York City but in a rural part in Wyoming. It was colorful. I felt like I was in a Disney land or Universal Studio in Florida which I visited when I was on a Middle School band trip.... read more

On my way to Yellow Stone, I stay at a wooden lodge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It definitely felt I was on a high altitude. Seeing Teton National Park, I confused myself to be in Nepal or the Alps. I was amazed by its mountain peaks covered in snow. Cold air breeze was so refreshing that my mind was in a state of meditation.... read more
