Last night the rain started around bedtime. The wind came up and blew pretty strongly. The power went out in the campground and the only lights you could see were in some of the campers. Even the campfires were out. It rained off and on all night.
This morning we headed south, stopping at Grants Village for stamps in our passports and to call Michael. There are very few places in Yellowstone where you can get a cell phone signal, and none where you get wifi. We stopped at Lewis Falls for a few pictures before leaving Yellowstone.
It’s only a short distance to Grand Teton National Park, and we set up at Colter Bay campground before lunch. After lunch Kerry, Gena and I went to the Colter Bay visitor center before heading on to Jackson, WY. The visitor center in Jackson Hole is amazing, with a small herd of stuffed elk in the lobby and grass growing on the roof.
Gena and I shopped in Jackson while Kerry went to get the oil changed in the car. The oil change places were dreadfully overpriced as were the t-shirts Gena and I were looking at. So we didn’t
Lewis Falls
Yellowstone NP buy anything and the oil change will have to wait. We went back to camp empty handed save for patches, postcards and ice.
After supper we decided to drive to Willow Flats in hopes of seeing moose before heading for the showers. We didn’t see moose one, but we did see a large herd of elk. And, icing on the cake, we saw a pair of sand hill cranes.
