We were up early again ... ready for fun. We also had a long drive into Cody ahead of us. Checked out of Cadillac Jacks - really great service again. They came out and helped load Mom & I's growing horde of stuff. I really learned how much stuff my car can hold. There was now a two foot carved wood bear in the compartment under the back passenger seat. LOL
We had breakfast in Deadwood at one of the old hotel saloons. I think Silverados but not sure. Dad, Dave and I had breakfast sandwiches that I remember being pretty good. Mom had pancakes and bacon she was unhappy with ... a recurring theme! LOL
• We then separated for an hour or so & took a stroll through downtown Deadwood. Shopping and a little gambling. The little casinos are fun - part museum and part casino and part saloon.

https://www.nps.gov/deto/index.htm. It was very interesting driving to the park? As your closer and closer it's just strange. Definitely a one of a kind thing to see. The main visitor
area was under construction and hopefully they have now made it a bit more accessible. Dad and I were doing good to make it up the steep path to the benches at the base. We then sat and watched everyone else. Watching the rock climbers was so cool! Mom and David took the trail all the way around the base. After this and a look around the visitor center we headed over to the picnic area for a quiet lunch and watching the prairie dogs play.
• Time to hit the road for a long drive into Cody. David got a little excited about getting to Hwy 90 and an 80 mph speed limit - he got pulled over on the two lane. But the trooper was very nice with a warning after seeing the craziness he was traveling with.
• A late dinner stop found us in Worland, WY at the Cow Camp Diner - now closed. Mom was already protesting but we talked her into it. We had the special of pot roast and fixing with brown and cream gravy ... we liked it. Now the waitress ends up with a larger tip
than normal. Mom wanted boneless buffalo wings which wasn't on the menu. The waitress totally didn't get what she wanted and total melt down miscommunication ensues when our food comes out. She brings Mom some sad chicken nuggets and hot sauce in a jar. The rest of us find this comical but not them. Long story short Mom went to the car to eat car snacks, the waitress threw a plate across the kitchen and we finished our meals in peace LOL.
• We get to the hotel creeping on midnight. Check in no problem thank goodness
