Last night we stayed at “AmercInn” hotel. It had a hot tub and a pool and a big king size bed =). The breakfast in the morning was pretty much 100% sugar. I was disgusted and Patrick was in heaven. The scenery on our drive has been quite amazing. My favourite part has been Wisconsin with rolling hills and beautiful, small farms.
As we were driving towards Madison, we kept seeing signs for all these different indoor water parks. My curiosity got the best of me and ‘suggested’ that we get gas. As we pulled off the interstate, Patrick and I were awestruck! Some of the biggest indoor water slides...ever. One had this crazy outdoor/indoor cyclone thing. When we stopped for gas I inquired as to where the hell we were. The lady told me that we were in the water park capitol of America! There were about 20 indoor water parks in the vicinity. Shit I wanted to stop and play so badly! But my “slave driver” made us go😉 I still managed to sneak away and go to the info centre to find out what the hell kind of city we were in. I wanted to know if there was a correlation between the water slides and natural outdoor water wonderlands. The lady had no idea what I was talking about. I explained to her that I was interested in white water canoeing and kayaking and if there was an opportunity for this in the area. She still had no idea what I was talking about so I left.
We planned our trip so that we could stop in the micro-brew mecca, Madison. Our friend Kate, who is from the area, told us that “Great Dane” was good brewery and gave us a list of all the beers we should try. With directions in hand, we worked out a way to the brewery. When we sat down at our seat and looked at our menu, I began to get overwhelmed with all the choices of both beer and food. I couldn’t believe it! Also, it was so cheap. After we ordered, our food came out in literally 8 minutes and I instantly thought, this is not going to be good. It just can’t! I was right, the food sucked. Again, I got frustrated about eating out. I can make much better food at home both healthier, better and cheaper. The beer was ok, but I think that I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn’t so full of bad food. I did really enjoy the ambiance of the place. Also, it was so good to not be eating on the go and sitting down for a bit.
We asked our server where we could get local micro brews to take with us and she gave us directions. We love getting beers for the area we are traveling in. Our only rule was the beer had to be from Wisconsin. I cannot wait to try them.
I am really starting to want the road trip to be over. We’ve been driving straight all day long for 3 days. I honestly do not remember the last time driving across Canada taking this much time. I swear it’s either the slowness of the trailer or we are just taking a different route through the states. Tonight we are getting to Cleveland to stay with Mom and Rich for two days. I’m looking forward to the break.
I still don’t think that leaving has hit me yet. There is too much distraction. As soon as I begin to settle more I know I will get much more anxious about not being in on the in or better known as FOMOing (fear of missing out).
