Here is the last part of the journey. Arrived in Seattle on the 22nd and was picked up by Kimberley on a warm autumnal day. That night we went to yoga class (I managed most of it) and were warned to be careful on the way home as there had been bear and cougar around. Dammn! didn't see a one, only a squirrel! Kimberley said that there are often elk in the yard, but as yet I have only heard them, (sound like a wolf cry) not seen any. the next day Kimberley had to work in the city so I went in early and had the day in town. The first port of call was at the Port area. Pike place Market. It is a public market overlooking the Elliott Bay waterfront in Seattle, Washington, ... read more

On our last night I had spoken to Chloe who said that the weather was going to be patchy on the way home. We eventually left Sturgis at 10.30, after waiting around for Wolf........ The plan was to get some miles done before stopping for food. It was quite warm when we left so I was only wearing a t shirt under the leathers. I had the forsight to leave the thick gloves and more tops on the top of the panniers. Riding through Wyoming the weather looked a bit black up ahead and we started to get a few rain drops. After stoping to put on water proofs and more clothing the thoughts were of what is that white stuff on those hills over yonder. Five miles later we came across the road covered in ... read more

Well here we are again in North Bend. It is a very long story in how we got to this point. Needless to say a cunning plan was hatched to ride with two buddies from Washington state to the Sturgis bike rally. A bike was hired, a Harley road king classic, which is, in my humble opinion, horrid. More on my opinion of it after the ride there later. The basic idea was to ride from North Bend to Three Forks in Montana, 630 miles, on day one then the remander on day two, 520 miles. Now to me a Harley makes absolutely no sense, this is certainly true in the UK, but in the USA it makes perfect sense. Now I have never riden 630 miles on a bike in my life before so it ... read more

I hoped it would be warmer when we got back home, but it hasn't been! That's been my primary excuse for not hiking since we've been back! A couple of weekends ago the weatherman's prediction and what was actually happening outside matched up! But! We also had my four year old nephew for the weekend. I remembered one of my favorite places to go with my girlfriends was Twin Falls--a short hike off I-90 (about 30 minutes outside of Seattle) that has gorgeous waterfalls and family friendly. So off we went.....with thousands of other Seattleites looking to enjoy the brief sunshine. We headed out on the highway around 10:30am, and arrived just in time to see 5 more cars pull in to the parking lot behind us. That's ok; nature should be enjoyed by all. This ... read more
