July 4, 2013 Since we didn’t get to Washington’s Grist Mill and Distillery yesterday we decided to do it first thing this morning. We were there by 9:45. Numerous other people were there too who were purchasing their Washington Whisky from the distillery. They had papers which had numbers on them from lottery drawing and they were called in by small groups to purchase their whiskey. I asked how much it was and the bottles started at $150.00. The lady in the shop said we could probably get one too since they might have some left but we didn’t take her up on it (I’m loyal to my Makers Mark). It must be good stuff though! July 3, 2013 Today after going to Union Station to deliver Robert’s Aunt to the bus we went to Mount Vernon. This site has a lot to see and we really should have stayed longer but it was getting close to the closing time so we didn’t see the museum and visitor center. We did schedule a boat tour which was nice and then we toured the mansion and the grounds. We also saw Washington’s tomb and the beautiful gardens. There are many other buildings on the grounds which show how life was when George Washington was alive. We should have brought in our water….2.75 per bottle!
