... read more

A week before his arrival thedribbleman received a message from a reader asking permission to use some photos from this site for a presentation at the main theatre in front of 3000 students at an American college – Virginia Tech. Accommodating I didn’t ask for money, I didn’t say you have to do me this favour or no photo. I just informed that we will be passing through next week on our way to Nashville from D.C and asked if they were able to get me and my travel buddy into a few college parties. If not that’s fine you can still use them. That request to show us a good time was accepted and thedribbleman and Robert Parish were invited to stay at their place - Invited to parties again with the big red cups. ... read more

As I sit here attempting to think of everything I could need for the month I'll be away from home, the idea of keeping a log of my adventures crossed my mind. Unfortunately, it remains unknown if the apartment will have internet access. Most likely it will not and this log will progress no further than a few entries in London. Attempting to transfer my pictures and write an entry on a daily basis from a cybercafe does not appeal to me. Hopefully, I'll post another pre-travel entry in the next dew days after I complete packing. MPep... read more

We arrived in Blacksburg, Virginia early Sunday morning. It was very surreal to see Missy and Griffin in their front yard waving to us as we pulled up. Although our visit was brief, we had a wonderful time. On Sunday Elizabeth went out to Missy’s barn to meet her horse. After that we headed into Blacksburg to eat, visit Missy’s workplace and see some of downtown. On Monday morning we went to Virginia Tech and saw the campus. It is an amazing campus filled with unbelievable architecture. We went to the duck pond and then the flower gardens. After that we headed into downtown Roanoke and had lunch and then came back to relax in the backyard and watch the kids swim. I was a little too relaxed though. I got up at one point to ... read more

We left New York and headed south recently on the Broadbent Express. The trip took slightly longer than anticipated. Twenty hours after pulling out of Johnstown, New York we arrived in Blacksburg, Virginia. The delays were the result of a variety of factors. The first being that each gas stop takes a half-hour. And when you’re getting six miles a gallon, they happen often. I offered my dad ten bucks gas money for the ride, but he declined. The second delay was the result of my suggestion to check out a local pub for lunch only to find that navigating a 33-foot RV towing an SUV behind it is not conducive to small country roads. The RV can not go in reverse when towing, so the 1.3 miles I thought would be easy to get to ... read more
