Leaving Alberta Well I left Alberta and and ran into a snow storm just passed the border, dark, snow and white outs on a twisty mountain road, what an introduction to the US. Oh well obviousley I didn't drive off the road or anything else. Spent the night at an information center/ rest stop in Montana and woke up to beautiful weather, Montana is a beautiful state the little I saw of it. I ended up in Utah and sprnt 2 nights at Antilope Island State Park and had many good walks and saw lots of buffalo, there are 700 on the island. Left and went to Salt Lake City and toured the Mormon center there, went to their ancestory building and they were able to trace all the Herrings back to William who came over from Cornwall, and my grandmother back to her parents. It was all pretty amazing and the ladies who helped me had the patience of job. Arrived in Moab and have been here for 6 days, have done a lot of hiking at the Arches and Canyonland, spending the nights at a BLM place with toilets and all kinds of people young old and everything inbetween. Camping on BLM land into bicycling, hiking, climbing just a lot of outdoor stuff. The Arches are amazing so overwhelming the sandstone layering is incredible. Canyonland allows you to drive up and look down on the Green and Colorado rivers and appreciate the millions of years this all took, makes you feel pretty small in comparison. I am off tomorrow for the Needles and more hiking then I will see.
