When the trail goes overland and is mostly solid rock you need some way of indicating where the trail should be. This is one way they do it.

About a half mile from the highway. but you can't see it from here. Quite a feeling to stand near these homes and wonder what is was like there 800 year ago.

We didn't leave ourselves enough time to do justice to this museum. At least we could walk around the ruins outside after it closed.

This ladder is over 1,000 years old. It was used in the kiva display until the 1980s when the BLM decided it was in danger of falling apart and moved it inside. There is a replacement outside that you can still use to descend into the kiva.

There were many wonderful examples of pottery in the Edge of the Cedars Museum.
