Park entrance
We have seen some amazing scenery on our trip through Utah's national parks, but I think maybe we have saved the best for last.
It was only about 80 miles from Bryce to Zion. We passed through a few very small towns and a scenic area called Red Canyon. We saw a couple coyotes on the way. We checked into our small campground just outside the east entrance to Zion, then drove the car into the park. We saw a herd of desert bighorn sheep along the way. It was beastly hot, 100 degrees by the car thermometer.
Zion is the busiest park that we've been to, especially considering that this is a Monday. After checking out the visitor center we boarded the shuttle bus into the canyon. The trip takes you through a narrow canyon with vertical rock walls on both sides that are a thousand feet high and along a pleasant stream. We got off the bus at the end where a trail continues up the ever narrowing canyon. It was too hot to do much walking so we headed back at that point.
