Day 17
Today was the shortest tour of the week, Zion Canyon- 81 miles. As we got to Zion Canyon, we're thinking " did they save the best for last ". We're hoping the pictures will give some idea of how spectacular it is. We drove through a very short tunnel and one that was 1.1 miles long, built in 1930. We actually drove on roads that were down in the canyon. This was different from the other canyons since they were seen looking from the top down. We saw a desert big horn ram while driving through. After we got to the town of Springdale, we parked our cars there since there would be too many for the visitor's center parking lot.We were shuttled to the visitor's center and from there taken on a 7 mile bus ride through the canyon. We got back to Kanab by 1:30 PM, left at 7:00 this morning to get back in time to get ready for tomorrow's ride to Henderson, NV. Jacque went to a garage to change oil and get a grease job. Mae did laundry. We pray that the car and our bodies

Red road through Zion Canyon. will hold up for the rest of our trip. We went to the closing banquet at the Kanab HS this evening. It was nice but sad too because coming back from the tour this afternoon, a mother lost her life. Her 19 year old son was driving when a wooden spoke broke in a front wheel and the car upset. There was also a friend in the car and a granddaughter. The dad was driving a model T speedster. The family is from Mn. Everyone is saddened by this tragedy.

Hi
Some quick items. The car accident made the Reading paper, we will save it for you. Tomorrow we will remember you in church. CEF Camp went very well, weather overall excellent, a bit cooler. Judy Lengle's mother passed away last Sunday, forgot to mention it earlier. We have really enjoyed following the trip. Great summaries and pictures.
