So we have finally arrived at our last stop in Utah: Moab, a city near Arches National Park. The heat has continued so we were glad to have some shade in the campground. We made sure we got out early to do our hiking. And the wind was often with us. You don't necessarily appreciate how big these arches are until you notice the person standing at the bottom of the arch

Sometimes the cairns that were built to mark the trail over the slickrock become quite artistic

There is a trail around these arches so you get views from front and back. I thought this one from the back was pretty good.

From about a kilometre away. We decided not to make the climb right up to it. Too hot and too crowded.

Unbelievable to think that a family lived out here in the later 1800s, It is so hot and dry. The nearby Salt Wash meant they had to go quite a way to find fresh water.

Just around the corner from the cabin were these well preserved petroglyphs.

Looked pretty quiet as it meandered between Moab and the entrance to the National Park

On our drive up the scenic highway we watched some companies launching their river rafts. A little more exciting than the previous picture but not as exciting as further down the river.
