We decided to leave Sunday, Nov. 27, the rain had just started. The low pressure system sitting over the midwest led to two and a half days of rain. This really made for easy decision making...head to Killeen, Texas. Drew, Lynn, and the grandkids are stationed at Fort Hood. Tonight we're in a campground in Texarkana, Texas. We pulled in-no clouds and the temperature was in the low 60's. Sat outside playing guitar after dinner tonight. I really know I'm retired...had to stop and think about what day it was. We'll be in Killean tomorrow which according to Cindy will be Wednesday.... read more

It was another brutal day of marathon driving on Interstate Highways. I normally avoid the interstates because they suck the life out of me. They have no soul. There is nothing on these roads except people wishing that they were somewhere else. I hate when I am them. I drove halfway across Tennesee and the whole way through Arkansas before I reached Texas. I got a very nice campsite from the Army Corps of Engineers. The developed campsites were full up but there was nary a soul in the primitive campground that I ended up having all to myself. I am beginning to sense that I'm going to be alone a lot on this trip.... read more
