River Walk, San Antonio
Made our way to San Antonio today. It's only about 30 miles south of New Braunfels, so a short drive 😊 We're staying at the Travelers World RV Resort. It's only 3 miles south of downtown, and right on the bus route. We did some laundry and then headed to town. We needed to make a Costco run, and of course, it's on the north end of town, and we're on the south end...but we're on an adventure, right?!? Anyway, got a few things and came back so G could BBQ steak for us...YUM!!! Then we caught the bus (just across the street...maybe San Francisco could use some easy access tips from SA...) for downtown. Took us a bit of hiking to actually find the "hot" spot along the River Walk area, but it was a nice stroll, and really pretty. We stopped at a few venues along the way...Rita's had fun bartenders, so we watched them create all kinds of Margaritas (one in a HUGE vessel with a Dos Equis stuck in it...wow!!) for a while. Then we wandered down to The Republic of Texas, where they had a DJ, and as soon as we walked in, there were some folks doing the Electric Slide 😊 Needless to say, I joined in...too fun!!! We watched as they did a few more line dances, but the music was hip-hop and too loud, so we wandered on. We ended up in Durty Nellie's Irish Pub where a guy was spoofing on the piano. He was pretty funny, so we stayed there a while. Met some folks from McAllen (our next stop, and where G spent some of his formative years growing up), so they were giving us tips for our visit there. I am having the best time just visiting with folks along the way. I usually have to strike up the conversation, but usually once they get going, they love to tell you what they're doing and all about where they live. We met a young man at Rita's who is stationed in Puerto Rico, but had lived in SA for a few years. He comes back every so often for training, which is why he's in town now. It was fun to listen to his story and hear him tell of his family 😊
