Saturday, September 22 ,2012 I got up really early so I could be at the Plano balloon festival when the gates opened at 6 a.m. The weather was perfect for the balloons. There were only 2 balloons for the balloon glow that morning, however about daylight a lot of pick-up and trailers arrived with the other balloons. It was so neat watching them set up. After all the balloons lifted off, I walked around the booths set up for the festival. Other than the balloons most everything else at the festival was geared to kids or was food. They do have concerts and fireworks in the evening and at night but nothing early in the morning. Kids were performing dance routines on the stages.... read more

The whole morning payed a game called Settlers of Catan with Vinjai and Rajesh and WII with Narmana after lunch. Yesterday played TT with Vinjai. M joined us for lunch. In the evening the 4 of us went to Nina and Tom's house. From there went to the Hall where Vinjai and Narmana were giving a piano performance. After the recital had snacks provided as pot luck by parents of the children who had performed that evening. $of us then went to veeran's house. Took lots of leftover snacks. Walked with N to Tom Thumb and bought provisions for the day. Left at 7:00 and was back at 8:30. The whole day was pleasant..not too cold, just right. Rain was forecasted but no rain. N did cooking washing and ironing. Veeran came and picked us up at 6pm. Narayanan a family friend of Sudha was there and he took us to Walmart and Ganesha temple. Taught him 56 and played few games. He left at 10 and till 11.30 four of us played. N and I vs Veeran and Chithy. Got my 4th Jack in USA! Watched House serial before going to bed. - R... read more

Spent my morning doing my mail and blogging work in Madhu's computer. Madhu went to the gym and came back by 10.45. Left for Veeran's place at 11.45. After lunch played 56. Pankajam mami gave some paruppu, kadugu, ulundu, turmeric powder, tamarind etc. to manage for a few meals. It would be a waste buying full packets from the store. Evening had homemade puff and tea. 5.30pm went to Indian store to get groceries and then to a mall. Viswam and me got coolers..2 for $20. Then went to an indian chinese restaurant for dinner. After dinner Veeran dropped us back at Viswam's apt around 1030pm. R,N,U Vs V,V,M team. M left after 2 giving two jacks. Then Pankajam chithy, Uma and me Vs V,V, Sudha. Here we go again! Lesson learned from last trip - having a 50+ lb bag is no fun at the airport or hauling up a subway flight of stairs with 3 kids. This time - backpacks - exactly one per person. No more. Well, kids are in bed dreaming about Italian gelato and pizza. Tomorrow we leave from DFW airport and spend the next 15 hours in or around airports, so we'd better get to bed too!
