Day 5

We began the day with a 3 mile walk/run on the LaNana Creek trail, which amazingly, runs along LaNana Creek. After breakfast at the Olde Towne General Store, we headed back to the hotel to shower, pack and head for Palestine. We had not yet realized it but we had already enjoyed the best part of the day.

After we got our bags packed and were ready to load the car, I went to the elevator to go downstairs to get the luggage cart. To make a long story short (too late!), it turns out the elevator was down for maintenance. So Kay and I had to lug our bags down 5 flights of stairs. We got some help from an employee of the hotel and we were grateful.

We got to Palestine and found out that we had missed the daily run of the Texas State Railroad. In fact we found out that it is not running daily anymore. It only runs once a week on Saturday night. Bummer! More tomorrow.
