This will be (hopefully) a fun rendition of our first trip to England—with an overlap of some sites in Scotland that we saw last year. The title I have chosen is just because we fell in love with Eeyore in the movie “Christopher Robin” this summer and loved this quote. We think it is funny. Here’s hoping we will have a more positive trip than Eeyore would likely have! When we learned last year that British Airlines was going to begin non-stop service between Nashville and Heathrow Airport in London, England we decided that might be a fun way to make another trip overseas. Against our usual method of travel which CAN consist of simply saying: “Hey...that sounds like fun!” and hitting the road—we broke tradition and made our reservations in May. It really is unbelievable ... read more

I planed a short trip to Nashville Tennessee this year for my birthday, I am an avid country music listener and Nashville just seem like the perfect place to spend my birthday. I traveled with two friends and I had to most amazing time. Being from Miami, Nashville offers a completely different atmosphere and I loved it. Upon arrival we rented a car which made moving around the city extremely easy and gave us the opportunity to visit different areas of the city. There are many different amazing areas and parts to this city, I would be sharing different posts on the different things we did around the city. Our first stop was 12 Street, where we visited Five Daughters Bakery for some deliciously amazing Donuts, while also discovering some amazing murals. Nashville is known amongst ... read more

Bring on the music. After the sleepy suburbs of Santa Barbara we headed off to country musics spiritual home - Nashville and then drove to Memphis the home of blues, STAX and Elvis. First Nashville. We got in after a long day travelling and were too tired to do much but Sue identified a restaurant called Monnels that was only a few minutes away from the hotel and we headed there. Terrific family run eatery. No menu you were sat round a 12 seater table with whoever was there and passed round the various plates of veg, chicken, pork, pudding, drinks etc and ate until you could only just walk. Good old fashioned southern hospitality at its best coupled with the opportunity to talk and interact with your neighbours. Added bonus the food was great although ... read more

I think the tired look of both girls when I woke up this morning was reflective of how tired we were. It has been pretty hectic so far, so I let them sleep in until around 9am, whilst I caught up on the blogs. I put on my Aussie Socceroos T-Shirt and fired off a text to Luke as he was already at the ground in Sochi Russia hoping for a Socceroos win against Peru. We were staying in Room 423 on the 4th floor and our room had a city view balcony room, which was nice to be able to sit out and overlook the main street and the mountains beyond. It was pretty clear after spending a few days here how devastating the wild fires were in late 2016 that destroyed thousands of properties ... read more

On the second leg of our Nashville trip, we decided to get out of the city proper and explore the scenic towns that surrounded it. Before we headed out toward the country, though, we did make it a point to stop at the Ryman Auditorium. We opted to see this over the Country Music Hall of Fame primarily because ticket prices were a little lower and the tour was shorter. As we had a toddler in tow, we didn't know how she'd do or how long she would last, and we didn't want to spend a ton of money only to have to leave 15 minutes into the tour. The Ryman still had plenty of historic displays for us to take in, though! It's in a gorgeous old church with incredible acoustics. Just walking in there, ... read more

A few months ago, my husband was traveling to Nashville, TN for work. We had the opportunity and the privilege to tag along, and as a lifelong country music fan, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. We'd wanted to wait until our kids were a little older to take any major trips out of the state, but decided we could make an exception for Nashville, especially since it was a manageable driving distance away. We arrived late in the evening and set up shop at a local Airbnb that we'd booked online. We knew with our loud crew we'd need a place to ourselves that wasn't so close to any neighbors. Luckily, the founder of the Nashville Entrepreneurship Club rented out his condo, so we snagged that at a great deal. It was a single unit ... read more

As opposed to the other blog, this is a shortened bulleted version of different and unique things that happened on the trip: We had an Uber driver in Memphis that cursed, sped. Hello from Kinshasa....yes, I have to admit, late I am when it comes to blogging. My flight from Lubumbashi was a good three hours late yesterday, but as always, I'm still happy to have arrived. There has been only two planes crashing this week in Congo DRC, so anytime I'm on a domestic flight, the only thing that truly count, is simply to land! Nashville, we did drive through the city and slept not far from the airport, but that's all I can tell you about downtown Nashville. One more time, let me stress that I don't know anything about country music and that I don't really need to go through that part of my musical background. This means, we may have driven through the streets of very famous, or not, music institutions, this was not ... read more
