Day 5

2.5 mile walk back to down town to clear the cobwebs. Walking past the Converted Union Station. A stunning 19th Century building with huge vaulted ceilings and Tiffany style stained glass.

Visited the country and western hall of fame, which had a cool exhibition of Dylan and Cash the Nashville Cats. I am not a massive Country Music Fan but this place was fascinating with some really cool exhibits. From the history of Gretsch Guitars, to stunning Cadillacs. Elvis Presleys gold Caddy complete with gold discs on the roof of the interior. Even the Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit/

After a couple of hours my ticket gave me a pass for the tour of the Legendary RCA Studio B . After a short bus ride we arrived at the small unimposing building that houses Studio B.

This was a great tour and what a room. You Can feel the history oozing out the place. At the end of the tour they tell how Elvis recorded Are You Lonesome tonight with all the light s off in the studio and how he smacked his head of the boom mike. As they play the song over the speakers they turn off the lights and its spooky and moving especially when you hear him smacking his head off the boom.

RCA closed the doors of Studio B the day after Elvis died. A total coincidence and it had been decided a year earlier.

Back onto Broadway for some lunch n beer in Merchants. I was wearing my Springsteen T shirt,so as I sat at the bar the band launched into a Song for "the Boss at the Bar! "

Refuelled it was off to the Johnny Cash Museum. I wont bore you with the exhibits, but as you leave the Chair where he sang hurt sits as they play the video, quite sad.

its Now 2pm in the mid 90s again. I need a beer !

Back out tonight for the last night on Broadway then up tomorrow to Head to San Fran.
