Edit Blog Post
Well, here we are on the road again! As tends to be usual with us, we have only a vague notion as to where we might end up. I wasn’t sure (and still am not) certain if this will be a full blown blog. Having said that, I have been accosted by several of you (and you KNOW who you are) with questions, complaints, and some pressure about the possibility of a blog this summer. I thought I would at the very least start out with a few days and see how it goes. I might not publish every day depending on availability of WIFI and availability of interesting or funny news. We will all just have to see how it goes so stay tuned!
We do know that the first part of our trip will be to Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas. Our older daughter, Laura (who is our favorite daughter from Texas) contacted us earlier this year with the proposition that the four of us, plus our Granddog SheebaSue and Grandcat Bourbon, meet at Petit Jean SP in June and camp together for a few days. This sounded great in January when the temps were winter like to say the least. Since it is now forecast to be in the 90’s+....well, we shall see! Whatever the temperature, it will be great to see Laura and Tom and have some quality family time. (Lots of hugs included!)
From Petit Jean, they will head back to Dallas for a few days and then head to Colorado for a few weeks. As for us....?? Not sure as of yet. We have a few thoughts of heading northward...maybe to Minnesota. Maybe to the Black Hills... and Beyond! Again, time will tell.
You may notice that this is a different blog site than I have used in the past. I’m not sure how it will look coming in to you. It may show as being from our email address, DWLP.travelkids or TravelBlog.com...and if it is anything other than our address, you might want to add it to your address book so you get the posting easily. As usual, when I send these postings out please feel free to let me know “no thanks, not at this time” and I will remove your address. I think there may be a way for you to ask to be removed from the mailing list on the blog notice you get also, but I am not sure. Please do let me know how you like the set up. As I say, this is a new site for me too.
We tried something different with packing Mufasa this time. Late last week we went to the storage facility where we store the RV and turned on the fridge, waxed the front of the rig, checked the air in the tires, and generally did what usually takes us half a day when we bring it to the house first. (John had a fall off of a ladder there which could have been bad but, luckily was not.) We spent yesterday preparing food to take with us (hey...going to see a daughter and I have to take “Mom food” with me!) and laying out our clothes. Today we picked up the RV and loaded it reasonably easily since we had everything ready to go, and headed out this afternoon. Our plan was to stay in the Nashville area tonight so that we can get on the road early tomorrow. We decided to go to the KOA near the Opryland Hotel And plan to walk next door and eat at Cock of the Walk. Laura has already told us that she is less than impressed with our 27 mile drive today...Kids...what can I say?
PS to those of you who are newly signed up to one of my travel blogs (and a reminder to those of you who are golden oldies)...please feel free to make comments, observations, suggestions of places to go, restaurants, and maybe your personal history of places we are visiting. It is fun for us to hear from you and that lets me know that you are receiving the blog.
Now...let’s get this show on the road! To Arkansas and Beyond!!
