We pulled out of camp at 9:00 into an already warm morning at close to 80 degrees! By the way, concerning our report of the power outage last night—we did finally get some juice about five minutes before we would have decided to move on. John was especially glad because this was a “full hookup” night in preparation for dumping the sewer this morning. Those of you who don’t RV go ahead and gag. Those who do RV know that the process of unhooking water, electric and sewer just after going to the trouble to hook up to all three (especially when you are tired) and heading down the road another 20 miles would NOT be something that you would jump for joy over having to do! At any rate, power was restored and we were able to get a very good air conditioned night’s sleep!
The sign along the road for the day was at a Mexican restaurant: “Our food is so good President Trump would like to build a wall around it”.
We passed into Mountain Time zone at 11:15 Central time, which makes us an hour earlier than those of you at home. Those of you
who are in the Eastern Time zone (and you know who you are) do NOT call at your usual 7:30 as we will still be in bed!
Bad hair day—I got out of Mufasa at a rest stop east of Badlands National Park and received an instant rearrangement of my hair from a great hair day to a very bad one! Sigh. It was VERY windy.
There won’t be much more verbiage today. We drove into Badlands National Park and took the loop road. We have been there before but had once again forgotten how beautiful this park is. The pictures will have to tell our story today. Any of you who have not see Badlands National Park are really missing a crown jewel of our National Park system. You might want to put it on your bucket list.
Directly after coming out of the park we drove into Wall, South Dakota, the home of Wall Drugs. We had followed “See Wall Drugs” signs for hundreds of miles and thus it was an almost automatic decision to pull in for a stop. Wall Drug—world’s largest “got cha” shop (my addition). It must be where all trinkets go
to die. We have never seen the beat. We did buy a $6 bowl of the worst ice cream we have ever had, so the stop was not a complete waste (snigger, snigger).
We left what was definitely NOT the highlight of our day and headed to Rapid City KOA, arriving there at 3:30. We have two nights here and we have a rental car for tomorrow. Might be able to get more nights, but won’t know until tomorrow. However it works out will be fine. Our plans are to get up early tomorrow and drive to see some of the sights that we have missed the last two times we were here because the roads are too narrow for Mufasa. Tomorrow should be another good picture day.
We drove 220 miles today.
