Day 1 - Forest City, IA to Oacoma, SD

Well we are here! Left Boston yesterday at 11:33 AM, and arrived in St Paul, Minnesota at 1:30 local time. Unfortunately, the bus that was bringing us to the Winnebago factory was not scheduled to leave until 5:00 so there was a long wait. After retrieving our bags, we realized that there was nowhere to eat except for a small food stand, and with all of our luggage in tow, taking a cab or even a bus to a restaurant was impossible. The drive to Forest City took about 2 hours, 15 mins, and when we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly and efficient team, and we were in our RV's in a matter of minutes. Needless to say our main focus was getting something to eat. We then proceeded to unpack, and fell into bed around 10:15. We love the camper! It is outfitted with most everything you would need. This morning we are headed to our orientation at 8:30. We finished orientation at around 9:30, and we were on the road within 15 minutes. It was a drizzly morning, but no heavy downpours. It was a pretty uneventful morning, and we finally arrived at our first planned stop, a Walmart superstore in Worthington, MN. We stocked up on all the essentials and found storage space for everything in the RV. This thing has loads of storage room. Our most important staple was not available at Walmart, our wine. Minnesota doesn't allow it to be sold other than at a liquor store, so we set out to find one of those. Hit Interstate 90 westbound again and headed for Oacoma, SD. Scenery along this segment was less than inspiring. Miles upon miles of farm land, and countless windmills in Minnesota. I don't think I've ever seen such rich looking soil. We could tell when we hit South Dakota, as it became a little more green and hilly than MN. Also, the windmills disappeared. Guess they don't allow them there. We finally arrived at our planned stop at the Oasis Campground in Oacoma, and successfully hooked up our RV to the sewage, water, power and cable with few problems. We all enjoyed a nice cocktail hour sitting outside before dinner. Going to be an early evening tonight. 318 miles today
