After leaving the cave, we then headed to Hot Springs, SD. The Mammoth Site has one of the largest concentrations of Columbian mammoth bones discovered to date. It is also the nly
in-situ (left-as-found) site for mammoth bones in America. After driving for about an hour through very scenic rolling hills, we arrived at the Mammoth Site complex. After watching a short video were took a guided tour of the site. The bones are still being excavated, so we were able to watch the archeologists work. Naomi and I both loved it. Its nice to be able to share my love of fossils with someone! We left there and headed to the Crazy Horse Memorial.
