“Look underneath the hot dog” Another wonderful day! Today the weather was somewhat cool and cloudy. After a quick trip into town to buy more reading material for the beach, Marie, Donna and I sat by the pool and “read”. By “read”, I mean talked about…oh just about anything…talk, talk, talk! For example: There were several people sitting around the pool eating onion rings who really would have been better served in the gym…you know…that kind of “reading”! Now here’s the interesting part. On one of the hotel decks there is a seating area with comfy chairs and a fire ring. We have been eyeing it since we arrived but there are always other guests at it. Sometimes they say, “Sit down with us” but we don’t want to…we want it all to ourselves. Well today while we were sitting at the pool, as usual, there were people sitting in those coveted seats. We kept giving them the stink eye (granted we were far away and they couldn’t see it) encouraging them to move along. At last they did. Well, our friend, Donna Kennedy, spying the newly vacant seats, took off like a mad woman in order to
get to the seats before anyone else did. She looked so funny practically running with one arm holding her beach bag and the other arm swinging as if to propel her along!!! But she got there and secured the seats!!! Bill, John and Steve then joined us and we had drinks…well, actually John went up to the room, put all of our liquor into a beach bag, covered it with a towel and brought it down to the pool deck and Donna made our drinks. Why, you may ask when there is a perfectly good bar only a couple of feet away? Because we’re cheap... That’s why! We sat there all afternoon…so what if it was freezing, WE HAD THE SEATS!!! There were discussions about the “gizmo” and the Russian Swiss Army Knife made an appearance. John gave a quick lecture on a bird that flew by…the regular stuff! Donna and Steve ordered a hot dog and Donna couldn’t find the pickle she expected so someone said, “Look underneath the hot dog”. You can only imagine the types of jokes that started!!! Later on we headed into the bar and had a light dinner. Bill had gone back to the
room so I called him to come down…when he arrived in the bar; he had his hat on, as usual. But then he took off his hat and underneath he had a bandana on his head!! He looked ridiculous!!!! We went to bed early because tomorrow were going to Savannah for the day and have to leave by nine!
Today's Road Lesson: Those fire ring seats are sweet!!
