Hi Everyone. Hope you had no plans for the day because today we are traveling back into the hills of Pennsylvania. Remember to buckle up. We are invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony for the rededication of the Pennsylvania Lumber Museum. We recently visited this marvelous place a few weeks back for a fundraiser antique show they had going on here. Perhaps you remember. This time all the important political people (Senators, etc.) are on hand to give speeches and do the ribbon cutting. Looks like a good turn out. The hard working people that worked diligently to get this major renovation done (>$5 million) are in attendance. Delores Buchsen from the Coudersport, PA. area was the person "who had a dream." She worked tirelessly to see this project through. We met Delores when we would set up here doing their antique shows. Pete and Jean Folk are our antique dealer friends. They are dedicated volunteers at the museum plus Pete has taking on the role of Antique Show Coordinator. After the ribbon cutting, we all filed in to view the building itself. Most of it we had seen before but this time they had their exhibit section and gift shop

Politicians cut the ribbon open. Both are really nice. On our invitation, it stated that one of our antiques that Delores had purchased from us for the museum was on exhibit....but we didn't see it. Rats! It was a flambeau: an old, round, metal, oil torch attached to a long pole. They were used in political campaigns or parades as well as for lighting while moving around out in the woods. Maybe we just overlooked it. They had coffee, snacks and cake at the end. Nice! Hope you liked the tour and the snacks. When you come back, there are all the huge buildings on the grounds that show the actual lumbering methods of times back. A lot of walking so be sure to have your best walking shoes on. That's why Lulu wasn't here....no legs and she's getting so heavy: fat head! Across the road from this museum is the old Denton Hill Ski Resort. It closed up a few years back...not from a lack of a snow. I don't remember why. The political players said they were on tract to get this ski resort up and going again. That would be nice but don't hold your breath. More of a wait and

Cruising down the river see. All of these attractions are on Route 6 that goes East/West across the state. It has all the cute, old wooden cabin motels and chicly gift shops. Makes for a nice ride.
Wellsville will be on the map again. Gabby Hayes was born here, Paul Ceglia who sued Facebook lived here (he's on the run right now) and now the American Pickers are coming town! We're famous! They were here yesterday in their special van, filming their show at one of our rather quaint homes in town. It is called the Mather Homestead. The elderly, free-spirited woman that lived here died a couple years ago. Every July 4th, she would invite the locals to sit on her front porch and read the Declaration of Independence. It was tricky to see her house from the Main Street because the trees and bushes had enveloped it in a big green web. Kids loved to trick or treat here even though they were scared to death due to its spooky facade. It was known she had her famous old Cord car still in her garage. We'll all find out now that the Pickers have been here. No word on the date it

Pictures will be on TV. I'll let you know when I find that out. You won't want to miss it. I contacted Scott Burt (local contact person for the Pickers), who is one of our county legislators and auctioneer, about a couple of my collections that maybe the Pickers would be interested in. No go. They want old barns or hoarder houses to paw through. My collections are neatly displayed and one is packed away in many boxes. We do have our barn filled with junk as well as our screened-in patio that is packed front to back, ceiling to floor but the stuff is all stored in boxes.....so they would have to dig through tons of boxes instead of just seeing it all in view. Such is life. We'll have to figure another way to become famous! Tomorrow we will be going on another exciting adventure. You are really going to love it so don't fill your dance card up. I can't tell you where we are going.....what to surprise you....and it will. Of course, now you probably won't sleep tonight with excitement and anticipation but it will be worth it. Start holding your breath! We leaving early in the
morning so set your clock. See you soon!
