In Franklin the trailhead is shared with the Allegheny River Trail.

In Oil City head for the sewage treatment plant!

It is 9 km (5.5 miles) and connects Oil City to Franklin along the Allegheny River

It is actually an extension of the Allegheny trail and part of the Erie to Pittsburgh trail

The trail is paved, wide and smooth

There are lots of benches, picnic tables and garbage bins on the trail.

There are many rusted remnants of the glory days when oil was king.

Storage tanks and many pumps can be seen along the tail

The trail is mostly shaded.
