The Armstrong Trail is 40 km and joins towns such as Ford city, Kittannning and East Brady.
The trail is located along the eastern bank of the Allegheny River.
The surface is relatively flat and is made up of flat compressed limestone, suitable even for street bikes.
A short section through Kittanning is paved.
The Armstrong Trail connects to the
Redbank Valley Trail at the mouth of Redbank Creek.
It is also a part of the 300 km Erie to Pittsburgh Trail.
At miles 45, 51and 61 are locks and dams on the Allegheny River.
At mile 55.5 is the site of Grays Eddy a small village dating to 1840s
The trail is mostly shaded. In season be sure to have bug repellant!
