July 23, 2013 - As you know we are Not in La Grande but S. of Joseph. That is the closest city in the list that can be used by the software. We headed into Joseph beforenoonthis morning, so we could get a good parking spot for the Stampede. Walked around the town, talking to people, and then had lunch at The Embers Brewery. Good calzone! At 1:30, time for the Stampede. Here they come! Wow, such fun! Riding downMain St.about 20 cowboys and cowgirls enclosing 30 or more wild horses. It was over way too quickly as they turned the corner and headed to the Arena. There was a lot of excitement, especially with all the little kids, well the adults too. lol Walked around town a bit more, stopped in at Mad Mary’s for ... read more

July 22, 2013 - Don't miss the panorama and 74 pics What a beautiful morning. We took the Tram up to the top ofMt.Howard, 8200’, right here in theWallowaLakeVillage. We could walk to it. Our first stop was the Summit Restaurant for breakfast with some killer bacon. Thought of Kyle! The Marmots & chipmunks were all around us as we ate, begging for food. Another critter, theClark’s Nutcracker was begging for food too from the trees. It made for a lively breakfast. Next we explored the trails and saw some unbelievably awesome sights. The light on the surrounding mountains and onWallowaLake, way below, took our breath away. And the views going up in the Tram were outstanding as well. We ascended 4100’ vertical and it took almost 20 minutes. On the trails were many Golden Headed ... read more

July 19, 2013 - Friday Leaving Memaloose today for Joseph, in Eastern Oregon. A complete change of topography. Goodbye to the coast and hello to mountains and trees and rivers. Head through the Dalles and see huge windmill farms, right by the road – 2 dams as well. Lots of power going on. Stop inIsland City for lunch – whew, it’s hot at 94 degrees; we’re used to the 60’s. 70 more miles to Joseph and the “Park To The River” Campground. Right on the Wallowa River. Of course, we have to pass through Hell’s Canyon and Dead Man’s Gulch first. The Wallowa Lakeis a beautiful, clear blue lake, reminiscent of Crater Lake in color. Must be a very deep lake. Something we see that’s really cool, platforms are anchored a little way off from shore ... read more

After a nice rest at Riverbend RV Park we stuck out for La Grande, Or. traveling through the Methow Valley passing many orchards, more creeks and lakes. Stopped at a pull off for a view of Chief Joseph Dam, then traveled south by Dry Falls, Lenore Lake, and several area's named ______ Coulee. Had some pretty good climbs of better than 4000 ft. and Shelby had some trouble making some of the climbs, so we stopped at Wal-Mart in Moses Lake for him to buy an air filter to see if that will help. On to Flying J in La Grande, Or. Today we travel from Oregon through Idaho into Nevada, to spend the night in Wells, Nv., you guessed it at a Flying J Had both RV's washed before leaving this morning. This time ... read more

We made it from Provo Utah to La Grande, OR. It took 11 hours to get here with a half hour break for lunch and couple of potty slash dog walking slash gas breaks. We are sitting at Eagles Hot Lake RV park in La Grande. The wind is TOTALLY crazy outside. We have a beautiful view of the mountains, oh, and the marsh across the street that provides an abundance of musquitoes in their first round of production for the year. Not very obvious out there right now with the wind blowing most of them into the next state, but the office was full of them. With as many insect bites as Bob and I have, we were in a bit of a self conscious, paranoid, get-me-outta-here-and-away-from-these-bloodthirsty-insects mode, so we paid, and fleed for our ... read more
